We're not going to redesign the lip. The new fatter lip will most likely collect more water now.

Alright guys, I finally have some news that we can finally share. In the last few years, other wheel companies have been trying to follow suit to replicate what we've been able to carve out for ourselves in the off-road/truck segment. We're always trying to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to wheel designs and the overall fit and finish of our products. Being able to maintain that high level of quality and meeting those high expectations that our customers expect from us is an on-going challenge that we pride ourselves on.

SCS has decided to step our wheel game up, dig into our pockets, and invest into new technology. We are super excited to announce that the new Ray10 17x9 -38mm size will be produced using "FLOW FORMING" technology. This is the most advanced method of production short of offering full-forged wheels. The flow forming process of the barrel offers similar attributions to that of a forging process. After casting, the wheel is placed on a machine where hydraulic rollers and heat are used to put a large amount of pressure on the inner barrel. As the wheel spins, the pressure of the roller stretches the alloy to form the remaining width of the wheel. This process changes the mechanical properties and grain structure of the cast rim area to have better strength and stiffness. All of this will result in a wheel that is generally lighter and stronger at any given load rating when compared to gravity casting, high and low pressure, as well as tilt casting.

Flow forming wheels have been around for years, but they were mainly offered for sport cars and sport sedans. They do come at a premium due to the benefits and quality of the finished product. We want to be the first truck wheel company to have a complete line of flow forming wheels. The new Ray10 size will jump start this mission in late 2018. By early 2019, our whole lineup will be all flow forming. We encourage you guys to do your own research on this technology. It's really cool stuff!

Sounds sick. Is the ETA being pushed to 2019 release or we still looking good for 2018?

 

I think the New Ray 10’s are still late 2018, and then the rest of the line up will be flow forming in the beginning of 2019.

 

Looking forward to seeing the renderings. On a side note, I saw the brushed copper finish in person for the first time today. Saw them on a white 4Runner and it looked amazing. If I had a different color truck I would be all over them....

 

What kind of a price increase can we expect for the flow formed wheels?

True, but I don't think that was factoring in the additional cost associated with FF vs. Cast wheels.

 

true...hopefully the group buy pricing will help keep the cost reasonable.

 

To be honest, we have not set the price yet. We've mainly focused on nailing down the deep dish design and trying to keep everything on track to be released by the end of the year. Just know that you'll be paying for a high quality wheel even with a price bump.

Most Others = Bilstein 5100s
SCS 2018 = Mid Travel
SCS 2019 = Long Travel
