May I suggest a high quality ground tent, decent sized vestibule, good ground cover footprint, high strength stakes and a full coverage rain/storm fly.

Makes a world of difference when camping and enjoying the great outdoors.

Waiting for @fatfurious2 to change his mind on his new one. Should be 4 months or so. Then I’ll buy it.

    Then sell it.

truth half the time tbh. i wouldnt mind going back to a ground tent and just having the extra money.

ground tents can be setup anywhere, but finding flat level ground can suck. putting away a wet tent also sucks. not having to climb all over the truck to put it away or climb up a ladder is nice. standing room can also be nice depending on the tent.

rtt, can be setup where you can park the truck. still sucks putting away wet, albeit a little less. somewhere to store blankets and what not. cant stand. climbing a ladder is annoying.

Funny you say that man...I think I have considered trying to get an updated ground tent. Only real cool thing about an RTT is you are elevated above the elements and the random critter you might deal with although unlikely. I think if you have some sort of mattress system then ground tenting is pretty solid. My RTT has been off so long that people got no idea I am an overlander these days.

    I'm 6'5". I just step into mine

    :D

I love my rtt. We use it at least two weekend a month. Basically the only time I use a tent now is if we are hiking into somewhere that my truck can't go, or I know that we need to park on the side of the trail and there's not enough space to open up / privacy can help in some neck of the woods for curious passer-bys

eh i wasnt ever worried about critters. main thing for me was ease of use which it definitely has.
also some good things to note about rtt is not having to have another footprint spot for a tent.

for me i think i could probably live without the times i do use it now.
