I like the idea of having a simple handheld and the price seems relatively reasonable - about what I paid for the low-end Lenovo I got for this purpose. I like the simplicity of a handheld and small form factor to just keep being the rear seat. Ordered. I'll gift the Lenovo to the Salvation Army or something this Christmas.

@OVTune - How many tunes will the handheld hold? Assume something like 5 or so based on what I've seen on the 4.0 versions you've been selling. My assumption would be this would give users an opportunity to have easier flashing ability to go stock to tune. 87 to 93. efficiency to power, etc.,?

 

He did say he recommends the dongle setup for custom tuning. Didn’t you want some custom tunezzzz

 

I haven't opened my box yet. Order #3211. If I'm exchanging for the handheld do I need to keep anything?

 

Man, I can't imagine living in a country where I feel the need carry a gun, for fear of being mugged/shot at by someone else with a gun. Canada was good for a while but in places it's gradually getting to that point.

 

How will new files be downloaded to the handheld? Are they WIFI connected to connect the internet on their own, or will we need to hook them up to a computer to do so? ...and if we need to connect them to a computer, do they still require Windows for compatibility to the handhelds?

 

He will keep his tactrix so he can still custom tune.
Note, for custom tuning, updating tunes on the handheld a computer is still required

Handheld will need to connect to a computer. You load and upload just like normal software but once your done it all stays on the handheld for convience. I had 8 tunes on my old handheld for my VW.

And i want to hear directly from you so I cab be 100% certain that the ECU learning is permanently disabled with OVtune, correct?

Mat, are we still tied to using a registered computer to download tune files if we have the handheld, or is authentication performed on the handheld device?

 

Super excited for the handheld so I can jump back and forth between 87 and 91 tunes if I can't find premium gas somewhere!

All registration remains on the handheld itself. The software is for loading tunes to it. You can put the software on any computer you want.

 

I already have the dongle kit with the Tactrix. I'd use the computer for updates at home and the handheld for updates on the road.

 

More questions because TW: Is the handheld powered through the OBD port? How big is the handheld unit?
