Been following since roughly September of last year. This thread predates my interest in it by a good bit

But if they get a handheld for $770, it does NOT include the Tactrix that dongle guys keep. If you purchased a Tactrix from OVTune on top of the handheld kit (so you can log / custom) you'd be out $970 so basically older folks are paying a few bucks extra to upgrade at the end of the day.

Explanation of new product(s), and what it means.

    Regarding 1.05 release:
    - Every version of our tune kit ( dongle kits, Dongle-less software, Handhelds) will get access to 1.05 release with 87 octane MPG tune, 91 octane power and 93 octane performance tune.

Regarding Custom tuning: Our Dongle Kits, and Dongle-less kits will have custom tuning functionality right out of the box. That means after you flash 1.05, you may (optional) use our logging software and submit logs for your tune to be revised.
    - Revisions will include: Changes to shift mapping (upshift, downshift), Torque control for transmission, Ignition timing cleaning, fuel maps, things of that nature. Custom tuning is taking the data from your truck and dialing the tune specific to your trucks data.

Regarding Custom Tuning 2: - Custom tuning is completely optional and not a requirement. Our 1.05 tunes will work great right out of the box, and you get 87/91/93 all included so you will have a tune for any popular octane available.

Regarding Handheld Trade-ins: Dongle kit users may select (optional) if they want to trade their dongle in for a handheld. You may also select to keep your dongle and keep the handheld at a discounted price. This is for people who would like to have the ease and portability of the handheld. Dongle-less users (v3 flash kits) may also select to buy a handheld at a discounted price. If you have our dongle-less software you can select the "trade-in" option but you do not have to unregister or give up your dongle-less license. You will simply get a handheld mailed to you.

Handheld - general information: Handheld tuners will connect to your OBDII port and read your ECU. After they have collected the data they will be locked to your truck. If you have our kit(s) dongle or dongle-less, when you receive your handheld you MUST FIRST FLASH BACK TO STOCK before using the handheld.

Handheld - New customers: The handheld is a touchscreen portable device for reading and flashing your vehicle ECU with our tune. The handhelds will come pre-loaded with tune files for every ECU version that we have in our database. So that means you plug in, read your ECU, the handheld will generate matched tune files to your ECU, you select and you flash. A computer is not required for this process.
It is HIGHLY recommended for customers with older trucks (early 2016) that you get the TSB flash before trying to tune with the handheld. Our handheld tuner will NOT support ECU versions earlier than 04B02. (04B00, 04B01 NOT supported).
The handheld features include : Reading and clearing DTC, ECU live data display (PID data) and custom programmable gauge display with warnings. (for example if your engine temp gets hot you can have a gauge show you).
Currently our handheld does not support recording ecu live data and streaming PID samples for recording, so customized tuning is not possible with the handheld alone.

Handheld Custom Tuning: If you want a handheld and custom tuning you can order our logging add-on package. The add-on package is a OBDII interface (our V3 cable) and our in house developed logging software. A windows based computer is required to use this. You use our logger, record the data, and submit it to us. We send you a new handheld file for your handheld which you can upload and then flash your car.
Custom tuning with the handheld OR our flash kits REQUIRE A WINDOWS COMPUTER.
Remember, customized tuning with logs is completely optional, and not a requirement for using our tune.

Customers who used someone elses kit and have a licensed truck but no tune kit: - Send us a message and you can receive a handheld at a discounted price.

That option to elect to keep your dongle and just pay for the handheld makes this super painless, for only $20 more than the option of trading in your dongle.

@OVTune, now you say that the handheld will come pre-loaded with every ECU version in the database for 87,91, and 93 files..

BUT, how many versions of the tune can we have on the handheld simultaneously? 1.04A and 1.05...

EDIT: NVM, from the video that was posted I can see multiple choices in addition to the "original file".

    Kool beans!

Well yeah. None of these fix the problems. They just mask it.

@OVTune, Hi. Will you be sending out an additional post for what to do if we received a Tune in the mail yesterday, have not registered it and would like to exchange for the HandHeld?
