Thanks for the answers on how the handheld works . from what I see , it is just another item that can fail just as a computer can . Correct me if I am wrong but a dongle user has the best setup as they can just get , or use a different comp. and be good to go as long as they have backup files . Dongleless needs to get a new Key from OVTune if their computer fails , and the handheld unit will need to be fixed or repurchased if it fails . The Dongle user can do it all including custom tunes without any new costs .

You are correct. I am NEVER giving up my dongle. On my 3rd laptop, since I upgrade them regularly. With the dongle, I DO NOT need to contact OVTune to transfer licenses to new laptop.

Wonder if we could clear the maintenance light on the dash ourselves, with the handheld...

Do it in the screen in the center, just use the steering wheel control.

There's a handheld kit for $770 that includes everything, and another handheld kit for $600 that DOES NOT include the Tactrix cable. I just checked the links again. So doesn't that look like a new customer gets everything for $770? Am I missing something ?

This. I use the same laptop for TechStream (to reprogram TPMS sensors when I do my 5 tire rotation).

Ah, gotcha. Makes sense that I would have missed it, because the only time I've tried to explore that slide is when driving, which it doesn't allow. Thanks for the tip

I feel like I'm super slow in the head today. I literally just ordered the "Tuning Package" last night for $770 before we heard about the handheld option. So, how much would the handheld cost for someone in my position?

Been waiting for that answer too. Can only imagine how much he's got going on right now. I think it'll help if you DON'T open the box when it arrives

yes they can I broke one when my laptop fell off the passenger seat.
The one thing about the dongle is if it ever does break it CANNOT be replaced. You'd need a new license, new serial number, etc.

    Obviously anything can break.
Chances of breaking a handheld is very slim (maybe 10 out of hundreds we've done).
chance of breaking a dongle... very slim.

Chance of breaking dongle-less software ... impossible.

We would hope people take care to not let such expensive flashing tools become broken.

You're telling me that you can't copy a file to a USB device in a Parallels VM?
