What's a good 'deal' on a 2018 or 2019 Tacoma (specs and price inside)

    I'm wanting to buy either:

2018 Tacoma, Cement, 4x4 double-cab, Off-Road, short bed, tech package
    -or-
2019 Tacoma, Cavalry Blue, 4x4 double-cab, Off-Road, short bed, tech package

My local dealer has this as the MSRP for each of these vehicles.

    2018 - $39,331 - $1000 (incentive) = $38,331

    2019 - $39,535 -

I feel like these are way overpriced and wanted to see if anyone could provide some insight on how to haggle these down? I would really like to pay under $35,000 for the same specs I mentioned above plus get them to throw in predator steps and a bed mat for 'free'.

Also, I'm torn between the cavalry blue and cement so I would ultimately buy whichever one I could get for a better deal.

A "good deal" depends on what the dealer has available or is in the region, and what part of the country you are in. I bought a new 2018 TRD Off Road, double cab with the 6’ bed in Super White last weekend. It has the automatic transmission, Technology Package, 3” round chrome tube steps, carpet floor mats with door sill protector, and a TRD front skid plate. MSRP (a meaningless number) was $39,872. Selling price was $35,500, with the Toyota $1,500 rebate that knocked it down to $34,000.

Your 2018 price looks pretty high. Check out the thread titled "How much are you paying for your 2018 Tacoma?"

What is the difference between MSRP and selling price? How did you find the selling price?

Here is the link to the 2018 Tacoma...I think it is priced high, too. https://www.billwrighttoyota.com/new/Toyota/2018-Toyota-Tacoma-ad77dcd30a0e0ae82394e0f8ef2ce977.htm

I basically got $3500 off the price of the window sticker plus a $1500 rebate. I know these can be wildly different, but few locations have uglier business practice than Gulf States Toyota.

I'd say those look high, you should get those prices with the premium pkg included.

There are a lot of overpriced add-ons to that truck--Predator tube steps, exhaust tip, mudguards, TRD shift knob. You should educate yourself on what those cost the dealer and what a better price should be. There is a lot of online information regarding that.

You can get a DCSB TRD OR w/ tech for 35-36. Find a dealer that actually wants to sell a truck. That’s what I got mine for and they had to order it…

I got a cement 18 TRD OR 4x4 DCSB w/tech and blackout package for $33,000. I haggled with a couple local dealers as far as I could get em down (34,500). After they said they couldn’t budge anymore (and I sensed they were trying to screw me) I called and emailed some other not-so-local dealers that had the taco I wanted and told them I had a deal going with a local dealership for $1,000 less than what they were actually offering. The best 1 dove another $500 under that and ended up w/ a sweet truck w/ more stuff for less $. The thing about dealerships is that they won’t hesitate to undercut other dealerships to Sell a truck. Don’t worry about lying to em, they’ll lie to you all day long. The real problem is finding a cement taco. Not a lot floating around (at least in Florida)

Awesome price and strategy. I am better at being straight forward. "I will not pay more than $xxxx." .Or "Another dealer offered $xxxx and that did not get it done". I'm always ready to walk away, and I never budge an inch on my offer.

Supply and demand is what drives the price...7 to 10% off the MSRP is pretty common for these trucks.

Is that out the door? Looking at the same thing minus bed cover for sale price of $36,550 and out the door for $39550. That includes taxes and fees. Out of that, fees would be ~$800.

I just bought a 2019 DCSB 4x4 TRD Off Road with technology package, blackout letters, bed extender, exhaust tip, and all weather mats. MSRP was $39.6k & bought it for $35.5k plus tax & license. I live in Southern California & bought it from Toyota of Carlsbad fleet department. Nobody else in this area would even deal with me.
