Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

And some more power would be nice. Lol.

 

After watching and reading every post about this tune from the very beginning, I finally pulled the trigger. Handheld order #3263. Pretty excited.

 

I'm trying to control myself till I see what my bonus is Tuesday. That's my play money. Lol

 

Thats my same issue.. except no tsb so it acts all weird surging and crap. The throttle seems disconnected form the truck.

 

That's the issues I had. I actually had it at the dealer 3 times and told them that the tuning was all jacked. They said there was no fix for it. Then the tsb came out the next day.

 

Yep, I can't really go to the dealer without taking a day off and they said they probably can't flash it since I am at sea level and if they cant replicate it they won't flash it....

 

They fed me that shit to. So I politely told them they could either flash it or I could drive it through there show room. The choice was there's. They had me drop it off the next morning and I picked it up on my lunch break.

 

When I picked it up it still wasn't perfect. So I brought it home and hooked it up to Techstream and cleared the learning computers for engine and trans. Since then it's been good. Just that one issue.

 

A couple people have and posted their results on the FB page. One person made way more torque with our tune than our test truck, something like 40 ft lbs gained

What do you suppose was the magic ingredient or combination ?

 

The handheld doesn’t allow for custom tunes, so it’s not the same as either the dongle or dongle-less setups.

From OVTune:
“Currently our handheld does not support recording ecu live data and streaming PID samples for recording, so customized tuning is not possible with the handheld alone.”

 

Ok so if I buy the tune and still have an issue I can log data and you can fix the issue in the tune. Am I understanding this correctly. @OVTune

 

I had killed my factory leaf springs by 4000 miles and I only had 200 lbs in the bed. They were on the bump stops!

 

I think you need the Rev 3 connector for the custom tuning on the Hand Held.

 

@OVTune Mat, When I loaded 1.04 for my 04B03 (AT) dongle-less the instructions from you stated to ignore the TCU upload instructions as there was not a TCU update. Your updated OP for 1.05 instructions again mention TCU. Does 1.05 have a TCU update for the AT on the 04B03 platform? 1.04 was my first and only OVTune install.

 

Yep, I was just at Best Buy today looking at options, and if it's $240 on top of everything else I'm just going to get a little notebook comp. for more flexibility/options. Would also allow me to do logging if I ever get into that. I'm glad I was looking at the store though, somehow got my wires crossed and was originally looking at an android tablet to do the flash, until I remembered you need windows, lol
