Any of you have experience with Audis? My brother in law has an 02 A4 with a turbo. The inside of the hood is always covered in black shit - reminds me of soot. Any ideas where to start? Turbo was recently replaced. He says it smokes sometimes when going uphill.

He just had Audi do an oil change and all they reported on their 20 some odd point inspection was worn control arm bushings (lol, 926 bones) and motor mounts (1200 bones).

Now's the time to get ase certs. Grab a class at local Jr college and get welding cert. Learn to weld pressure vessels. Like to swim? Get underwater welding certs. I know a guy makes fat money doing that.learned in the navy now does it as a civil. Clears 400k in a slow year. Also nuclear welding..look that up.

Definitely not road grime, when they changed the oil they cleaned it. I'll take a close look at it just figured would throw it out there. He complains about poor gas mileage - I told him to leave the turbo alone and drive like an egg was under his foot.

I tried to tell him to buy a Toyota but he insisted on that Audi. Has 141k on it. Now all he wants to do is dump it on CL and buy a Honda Accord. :goingcrazy:

There you go. But go a lil further. Get certs for pressure vessels. Don't be a dumbass like me. Get into a job that pays good when your young and has a retirement. Bust your ass and make a good life

Swimming is easy...just don't let yourself sink and drown. It's literally just kicking your legs and moving your arms lol.

Swimming efficiently with style takes practice though

excellent advice. Also, PAY INTO your retirement from the start. So many don't - they wait until its late in the game. constantly work on updating your skill list - no matter what field you enter. Never stop learning.

Maybe I take it for granted because my mother insisted we take swim lessons as kids...but to me it always seemed weird when someone said that they couldn't swim. I always figured it was the panic that did a person in when they drown...really all it is is just kicking and moving your arms in rhythm. You're just pushing against the water to keep yourself afloat, or to move in any one direction

just have to learn the way my father did. he loves telling the story. his father rowed them (my uncle) out to the middle of the lake and told both his boys to get out of the damn boat. Time to swim. Kicked em both out. they grew up in Nebraska so I guess its a bit different from Cali... lol.

Oh yea, max your 401k. That's free money. If your doing good money wise, and get a 2% raise..straight to 401k. You won't miss that money.but when you retire early and pull it out..your gonna be happy as hell

Just have someone drive your truck into the middle of a lake so you have to swim to get it out and bring it back to life....again :D
