Yup, I'm glad I've visited a few times, there will be a massive earthquake in my lifetime and there will be nothing left of SF due to the possibility of liquefaction because most of the city is built on packed sand. Only the skyscrapers that anchored to bedrock will be left and everything else will be reduced.

That's basically what happened in the Earthquake and Fire of 1906. Most of the city was rubble.

Also the Loma Prieta Quake of 1989. Lots of buildings collapsed.

 

That's why we have go bags in each vehicle. And food and water stored at home. And our camper is stocked. Just in case..

 

I feel like you can enclose a harbor freight trailer for less.

 

You own a pickup, how many horns do you think you'll be taking? Maybe buy a shell or a tonneau, or rent the smallest uhaul enclosed trailer. Your truck with the auto and gearing and tires it has now shouldn't pull something that big that far, and no brakes is dangerous. The smallest uhaul is all you should pull for distance with your truck.

 

Save your cash buy new. And write off for business. That one you linked is more fucked than a left handed football bat...

 

It won't look the same. I've seen how those homemade flatbed trailer conversions look, they're fugly.

This thing looks like it has good bones.

And I'm sure whatever axle it has is better than what harbor freight has.

 

The HF axles are actually pretty decent for what they are as I'm sure Kirk can attest to @koditten

 

I like the trailer because I carry two wagons full of tools. Always a pain to carry it up to a lifted pickup.

It's also more secure locked in a trailer rather than exposed in a camper shell.

I'm curious, is it possible to add electric trailer brakes to a non-braked tailer axle?
