19. My folks pushed for a 4 year degree. They were right. Its where the money is at in the world of industrial automation and PLC's.

 

Anyone know right off what size our lug nuts are? v6 4x4 ... got a new set of procomp wheels and got their lug nuts. Went to install them last night and lug nuts are wrong size

Seems nothing ever goes right when I try to work on this stupid truck

 

Well, you can get money with a 4 year degree, yes- if that degree isn't in Gender Studies, Basketweaving, or some other useless BS.

I have no degree. I barely graduated HS because I had my head up my arse. I am not stupid, I just had too little interest in school for a multitude of reasons. I am now a computer network engineer for a large organization with networks on all corners of the globe. I am completely self-taught in everything I do, and I'm something of a polymath.

I will usually take said vehicle (or at least a known-good lug from it if I've got it deadlined) to the store, doublecheck on their fastener sizer (or have them pull a stud and check to make sure it fits the known-good item) and then buy.

Yeah sadly I have a commercial account with advance auto for work and they recently upgraded their site and I can’t find crap anymore on there.

 

There is no problem with no degree, tech certs, associates etc... To earn the big money in the field I want to go into, I'm finding most companies want a 4yr degree. A 2yr in Industrial automation will get you a gig assembling machines in my area, not bad but its long days of manual labor. To be the guy designing or testing said automated equipment requires a 4 year.

 

Okay guys.

I’m having some intermittent “surging” issues.

Sometimes at idle and only with the AC on and clutch engaged the RPMs with bounce slightly. It’s probably a couple hundered RPMs but you can hear it idling up and down every few seconds. This is NOT the clutch engaging. This issue stops when AC is turned off.

This is intermittent. It does not always happen. If I turn the truck to the ON position without the engine running and press the gas fully several times it seems to fix it. But since it’s intermittent it could just be a coincidence.

I’ve noticed that my AFRs are bouncing as the RPMs bounce at idle with AC on as well.

Sometimes when I’m steadily accelerating I’ll get some surging. It will stop if I give it just a hair more gas or let off a hair. It only does this maybe once a week.


I’ve replaced the plugs, wires, and ac compressor (it was bad) and I have no misfires that I can tell.

Has anyone had any of these issues?

I’m thinking it’s the fuel pump, the cats, or the $600 TPS on this poorly designed 04 throttle body.

 

maybe the blinker fluid is low?

I work with a guy that is a master mechanic and has worked in the auto shops for over 30 years. Something that is simple and takes people on here 10 mins to do will take us half a day to do on mine lol

 

Coming in at page 8315 lol got my new to me 99 in to see a professional. Find out exactly where were at. Barely now how to do brakes and oil, so this build is gonna teach me a whole lot.. I'm pretty excited about it. Now back to whatever you were talking about lol

Mint didn't even charge me for the inspection... doing a intake cleaner and fuel treatment now and then it's on to figuring out what to do with it.. need to long haul. Would also like to be able to do some not so extreme trails/cruze the desert ..

 

This, most of all, is a big part of why I'm doing a SAS on my truck, sooner rather than later.

I'll take your word for it. I've already got a munched driver-side fender from where the joint failed on the prior owner. Absolutely no warning, whatsoever.

 

I hope to not experience it again, you might have noticed the ball joint didn’t fail, the bolts, that were left, sheared.

Check your bolts ever now and again people.

 

Torque and red loctite the bolts. Add a paint mark for a quick inspection. Check for play at every oil change or more frequently if you beat on your truck. To me it's silly to have the ball pull out of socket because it's so simple to check. I've gone through oem ones in less than 10000 miles. I don't believe there is an lbj out there that can handle hard abuse. I'm tempted to try a Moog and oem side by side to end that argument.
