Yea, it’s in my records, “technician confirms symptoms” and was “characteristic of vehicle” lol

Well, the TSB certainly says that it is not. If it were me, I'd fall on my sword over this one, if you are already there.

    Good luck!

If it has been documented before your warranty expired and the dealer refused to do it, call Toyota. They will get the ball rolling for you.

Yea, I don’t think I’m done with this yet lol. It’s been one of my only complaints about the way the truck drives. The other being that volume is on left/right and next track is on up/down...

I can confirm Right Toyota in North Scottsdale completed TSB-0125-18 and the subsequent recalibration to my May, 2016 Texas built Tacoma. It was no cost and they did not give me any kind of trouble. I just requested they check for an updated calibration setting and referred them to the TSB for details.

Update: Quick 2 mile review is that they resolved the initial throttle-tip in hesitation. It seems the lag from initial throttle input to engine revving has improved. Overall power appears to be all there. I'll update as i get more miles on the truck.

So T-SB-0058-18 and T-SB-125-18 are the exact same file? Went to the dealer yesterday and they gave me a hard time saying the same sad story about how it only pertains to the AT’s. After about half and hour going back and forth they finally did T-SB-125-18. I really don’t feel that much difference, checked my invoice doesn’t show the before and after calibrations ID’s so who knows if they actually did it..

It is said that both TSBs apply the same software, but no one has posted the CUW files to verify. You should have the 04B13 ECU after the update if they applied it. The OBD Fusion app will show it.

Im back for a 2000 mile update after the flashing the ecu.

It seems this truck relearns bad habits again. For efficiency or emissions maybe?

My second gear bogs again when cold only which is still an improvement over the old software.

Also, alot of the surging in the rev range has come back. This I expect to a degree from all the vvti crap going on in this engine.

Conclusion: still worth it to do the update. Drives wayy better than original calibration still.

so strange. i cannot say i've experienced anything like relearning. before the TSB i would be sensitive to temp changes outside, but even that seemed to level out after the TSB. mine is a '17, originally 04B12, now 04B13 after the TSB.

Same here. But I can reproduce a second gear bog pretty consistently only when cold. At times i get the 4000 rpm 2 stroke surge again as well.

It could just be me being picky lol. But thats what I have observed. Again, its so much better than 04B12.

I agree with the above posts. Mine seems to have reverted back to some of the retarded shit. Now that it's getting cold here it still stumbles around 1800 rpm and WOT although less than before. 3500 rpm powerband is bac k to some extent also. As others said it is still better than 04b10. So I am still happy I did it.

I've noticed similar symptoms poking through Mat's interim tune based on 04B13 code, 1.04R. I also get some stuttering, but hey.. that's my truck for ya.

I didn't bother to try and have Mat tune it out, because 1.05 is nearly here. Anyway, have a great weekend!

I get stuttering on 1.04R on my 18 also. I never had an issue with it on 1.04
