So i did the mall crawler 5100, 888 coil lift.. and well finally got a chance to put them through their paces in the desert, and they fucking suck. Spcs got out of alignment and i toasted my 5100s in less than 2 hours.

So I'm thinking 8112s and less shitty ucas.

For 9 months out of the year, i mostly mall crawl.. But for 3 months i run the piss out of my truck way too fast over rough roads.

So school me on replacement shocks. I've got dakkars and 5160s in the rear. They didn't shit completely put on me yet.

Sounds like long travel shocks in your future, kings or fox prob with a remote reservoir.

o_O What were you trying to say here?

And you’re expectations of 5100’s in the desert are too high. You’ll need to buy twice and get a long travel setup.

Get any branded coilover of your liking and you should be happy, imo I would gravitate towards ADS.

SPCs are highly recommended here on the forums. Although I like JBAs more. Not sure what your budget is, Camburg/Icon billets if you have that kind of money.

5100s aren’t meant to be run in the desert. Bilstein 6112 would suit your goals if your on a budget. I have them as well and the pic down below is a guy I follow on Instagram and bombs the hell out of the 6112s.

That's like saying I mostly squirrel hunt with my .22, but every fall I go after bear. My .22 is junk.

Don't blame the weapon. Blame the user.

5100/888/SPC UCAs sound like a terrible combo for the desert and what people do in the desert(see below). How do UCAs getting out of alignment toast shocks??

5100/888 are coilovers.. Granted I understand what you are trying to say, but that doesn't change the fact that it is still a coil over shock design. High end(king/fox/ads/icon/etc) shocks with resis or long travel would be more ideal for what OP presumably is trying to do with his truck

Truth! Build the truck for it's intended uses and not bitch about being a cheapass and trying to "run with the big boys"

Whichever brand you go with, make sure you tune them to what you want to do with your truck and its weight. Just saying go with kings or ads isnt always goig to solve your problems. Get what brand you like and have them valved accordingly. Then put them on your truck.

When I said coilover I meant any of the racing inspired Coilovers 2.5” with a threaded body, and Resi mounted.

They still suck, I've now sagged to under 1" lift in the front and I'm on my 4th alignment.
