It's less Tacoma and more mod
Eh, the 2j is very strong in stock form, the 5vz is comparatively very weak, rods and crank both can't take much and to do anything other than port the heads is a nightmare. Any engine can be built for power but its nice if they start with some strength. I can't actually think of a Toyota V6 I'd want to build for power, maybe the 1GR, but it's aluminum and open deck so even that's not a great idea.

The 2gr is an impressive little engine.. I could see them being n/a monsters with some higher compression pistons and cams... stock with stage 2 mwr cams they do really well with 8k rpm. When they’re sleeved they would likely be a solid platform for boosted application s

I'll admit it would be nice to have for a family wheeling rig, if only to be able to trade off driving duties every once in awhile. But I'll always need 3 pedals in my vehicle.

I do sometimes envy the auto's ability to crawl over obstacles more easily though without having to worry about burnt clutch or stalling...I get tired of yelling "I HAVE A MANUAL" to my spotters on a trail when they tell me to stop gassing it on obstacles sometimes lol. Then they all go 'oooooooh yeah.. that's right'. I'll need to do a crawl box one of these days.

When you get older you appreciate auto.

When I was younger I use to always say that I would never drive auto. I loved & miss driving stick but I've changed. Having a daily driver as auto is my prefered choice now.

I really want to teach my wife how to drive my truck (manual) but I just can't bring myself to allow my clutch to go through that kind of abuse. If I had another car I would, plus I think these trucks aren't that easy to learn on...my clutch has very little bite to it before it will stall out on you, took some getting used to for me when I first got it. My Scion I had previously had a clutch that would bite hard and it would pull itself up a hill if you wanted it to without giving it any gas. My truck will barely get going on a flat surface like that, lol.

The harder it is the quicker to learn.... well usually. ;)

On my last Honda I had a 3 puck unsprung ceramic disc clutch so it bit hard & chattered like crazy. You had to give it a good amount of throttle & work the clutch so it was really easy to stall. I asked my lil brother to park my car once. We live on a hill & our driveway is steep also. Of course it had an exhaust so I could hear everything from inside the house. I think he stalled like 8 times. Once he was done, he handed me my keys & said he would never drive my car again.

yeah my truck is loud too so I can hear it whenever I hand the keys to any service tech or someone that's about to work on it, do an alignment, etc. I usually try and walk away fast so that I can't hear or see them trying to drive it...ignorance is bliss. Hearing the sound of the RPMs going way up while they have the clutch fully pressed in makes my stomach turn over. I'd rather them stall it than burn the crap out of the clutch

Those of you that have Icon rear resi shocks. Do they come with some type of clamps for the resis to mount on the shock bodies or do you have to buy those overpriced mounts that they sell?

I've still running Donahoe rear resi shocks & I think they might be on their way out. IIRC these DR shocks are the old Edelbrock shocks that aren't rebuildable.

I have the 2.0 with remote resis in the rear...they came with hose clamps and a couple little black plastic cups to attach them piggyback style to the shock body. I don't think there's an option to attach them anywhere else like the frame unless you fab up a mount yourself.

It also gave out like as i was just getting through some bumper to bumper traffic because of road works.
Luckily it did it then so i was able to coast to the sholder vs pushing it in the middle of traffic lol.

Oh yeah, hose clamps are perfectly fine with me. Do they come with those rubber or plastic spacers that sit in between the shock body & resi?

I don't want to mount the resis on the frame or elsewhere, on the shock body like I have now is fine. I just don't want to buy these mounts. $80 for one set & they say you need 2 sets for a pair of shocks is ridiculous!

My wife has an '03 Accord with 125k on it, runs well but has some weird issue lately where it cranks real slow every once in awhile before it fires up. Battery is good. Also the trans makes this weird "PING" sound every once in awhile, and the AC compressor kicking on makes the whole car vibrate like it's going to stall but the RPMs are normal. But it keeps on going lol.

yeah they're just little spacers, they don't look like the photo you posted but it allows the resi to rest on the shock body and then you clamp it down with a hose clamp.

I had an 04. Not the best run of Accords I would say.

yeah it was her late grandfather's so she's not too keen on the idea of selling it yet...even though we're going to need a bigger/better family car soon. But being that my truck is the least family friendly of our two vehicles I think it's mostly on me to make that happen lol.

Camry (06 LE) died today. Won't start, turn key nothing. Batt shows 11.8 volts. Maint light came on the other day. P2423 code.

    Screenshot_20181005-160657~2.jpg

Don't think that's the cause though (not starting).

    Thoughts?
