Sliders are more so to protect my long wheelbase from shopping carts and mild trails. I don't intend to rock crawl or tree stump. I'd likely shy away from moderate trails as well. My rig is mostly just to get me out there versus traverse every imaginable ascent/descent. Would I be better off with a set of steps? I just want something that will protect the long wheelbase, and for that reason I am partial to sliders with kickouts.

Nothing to it. I too will buy custom springs when the time is right. Just wanted to state that my dakars have held arch with over 600lbs for nearly a year, and are doing just fine

 

Are we both looking at the same picture of your truck the same? Every single exterior available Expo add-on toy on is on your truck.. complete with hazard tape. Shell, tent, Awning, fuel, bumper, swingout, the list goes on.. you seem to be close to the person you’re describing, while denying at the same time..

Your truck would benefit from a custom leaf pack, whether you think so or not.

Mine are negative, even without the RTT. Have been for a while. Especially when the RTT is on and truck is packed up.

They’re just not made well.

 

So they're going to release an initial run of RTT without a waiting list? What about the platform customers that are "in production"?

 

Wiley said in a previous post that they are waiting on extrusion to be delivered. Sounds like a lot of "In Production" units will be completed the week of October 22nd.

 

Isn't the same extrusion used with the platform campers?

 

I edited my post, looks like a lot of extrusion will be delivered 10/22 and a lot of "In Production" units will be completed then.

 

It is. Those ten tents will be built using the extrusion that's coming in around the 22nd. After that we'll be building about 3 tents per week in addition to the campers.

 

0 campers completed this week, leaves the total completed at 62. 10 were added to “In Production” on Monday.

Edit again, after looking at my records. 4 started this week, and 5 at the end of last week. I’ll leave a 10 though.

 

10 campers were added this week. Some were started on Friday though.

 

I’ve just been posting the weekly updates every Friday. If someone’s interested, they can calculate the averages. The average is about 2 or 3.

 

I can honestly say I’ve never seen anyone say that they wanted Mobtown Sliders with kickouts to “protect from shopping carts.....” however I commend you for your honesty, I think.

I have a set with kickouts and I’ll be honest they’re very effective at guarding against wayward soccer moms at the mall. Of course they also work quite well for there intended purpose as well, I do NOT rock crawl my rig so my main use is rolling my front wheel of a rock or tree and not crushing my rocker/ jamming my door. If you don’t see yourself doing that, prob sidesteps could and would be nearly as effective with much less cost/ weight penalty.

But do whatever you like. @Mobtown Offroad makes awesome shit I’ve been very pleased with mine.

 

First off, you are obviously Overland-AF whether you’d like to admit it or not, secondly I love the first picture with Carter’s and Lane Bryant in the background.

Anyway, I have HD Dakars and to be honest I’m a bit disappointed. I ran mine for about 15K with only my Decked Drawers (while waiting for my GFC) and they were in a W before adding the other 300lbs of tent to it.. you might have the older “better” ones but I honestly haven’t been overwhelmed with these one bit.

I did pull my “factory spare” this morning and put my tire swing back on and they’re almost level. I’m thinking bags will be the solution for now, and a custom leaf pack in another year or two when I’m satisfied things aren’t going to change much.

Either way to each his own I do not think the Dakars are “junk” and not all of us need leafs to catch our trucks after a mid-air flight but they don’t seem to be the quality they once were.

 

I’m doing the opposite and debating removing my swingout and cutting weight. Maybe even selling it and going high clearance.

And yes, I added a bunch of unecessary BS to my truck (#overlandbound) but I’m now in the process of ripping everything not necessary off. I’m going to either 4.56 or 4.88 gears in the very near future so want to see how the truck responds to that first before taking weight off.

I also really like the decked drawers, but it seems hard to get gear from inside the truck as the slideouts just pull out, and you can’t get in from the top. Or maybe you can??

 

Oh I went all out when I bit into the fad. Funny thing is, here I am now removing pieces as I realize they aren’t necessary. Bed build went from being super heavy to just basic plywood, rear bumper is coming off pretty soon, etc.

But that damn caution tape. That thing is sun baked on there and it’d take me hours to get it off. I tried in the left corner and got nowhere.

I definitely would benefit from a custom leaf pack and I surely will one day.
