Received my new ARB bumper in "black" powder coat. The "black" almost looks more like a brown when compared to my Black Sand Pearl truck. Or is it just me? Will they match up fairly well when mounted? Should I paint it a deeper black? Can I use rattle can paint and achieve decent results?

No need for 2 threads on this question.

Makes it harder to get answers, not easier.

Black is a shade as well as a color, so it isn’t going to match all blacks just because black.

Your paint job isn’t black, so you can’t really compare it. Color match is the only way you’ll find a matching black.

I'm not sure why anyone would try and rattle can it. It would likely look even worse.

If it's in your budget, but I'd just mount it and run it.

I'm not where I can get a pic at the moment. But compared to my BSP, it kinda looks...brownish?

I DO know it's NOT as deep a black as my truck.

    Need to see a pic.

I've seen ARB bumpers in person new & old, never looked even close to brown to me. Can't compare powder coat to automotive paint with a clear coat but still.

Black sand pearl is not even black. Not sure how deep black can be when it is a metallic pearl topcoat.

Look...I don't work in the chemical engineering dept of PPG but apparently you do and are an automotive paint guru. All I can do is describe MY perception of what I SEE.

What's with all the negative waves?

You're looking for someone to confirm your perception? You don't see how absurd that is?

    Lol, seriously!

OP, without posting a pic for us to see, this thread is pretty much useless. Even though, you still may or may not just get opinions.

It is what it is & might only be what you think it is.

I was/am simply curious if anyone else thinks the black powder coat is a true black and will look ok against my truck. I don't want to mount that SOB and stand back and think "$#!t. It's too far off. I should have had it painted." And sorry but I am no where near the bumper at the present to get a picture. Maybe tomorrow.

FWIW, I put the black ARB on my black 2002 and it looked fine. The colors weren't matched, but it didn't look bad or out of place to me.
