You know I never thought of it like that.

 

i get the t-belt w/p done in about 2 to 2.5 hrs. pay is 4 hrs for just belt. 6 hrs for belt with water pump. hardest part is lining up the rear timing mark

 

Nah it's just for ones with too low of a charge for the charge controller on the car to consider safe to recharge. It's really mostly for lithium cells.


Also, no more anything bolted to the heads, it's ready to be pulled off for the shop. Gonna do the rear main cause why not it's so easy to reach the bell housing bolts right now...

 

Very nice sir. Your moving almost as fast as I did when I pulled my motor and trans... took me 9 hours roughly to do it... just don’t be like me and end up having the thing sit apart for over 2 years lol

Metal Impeller. They actually knew what they were doing.

Why would Toyota make it out of plastic?

 

Cavitation.

 

put a metal impeller in a Corolla xrs and they overheat at high rpm because the speed of the engine and the metal impeller causes the coolant to boil around it creating basically an air pocket

 

How would a plastic v. metal impeller help against cavitation?

The newer 3.5 is a metal impeller. But from my understanding the impeller isn’t moving near as fast as it was in the 1mz and 3mz thanks to how it’s deisnged

 

The pulleys on all of my engine are pretty big, I don't think even at redline they spin crazy fast on these

 

Do you know how much the 1MZ water pump and t-belt job cost? Our local dealer wanted $3,800.

What? Are you sure?

My neighbor said for his 2001 Toyota Sienna, Toyota quoted it as a 'two day job costing $3,800' for the water pump, timing belt, tensioner, etc.

 

Probably 2 days because they usually don’t stock tensioner. But no. It’s a 800-900 job. 1000 of your doing the tensioner and all the idlers

 

I'll ask him again what they quoted him, but I'm sure I heard him say $3,800.

Do you usually do the thermostat too? He opted not to do it.

 

Book time for belt with water pump is 6 hours. Parts are what? 400.. soo 6 hrs at 150 an hour would be 900.. that’s being o. The really high side and your still way under even 2000

 

No thermostat is on the back of the engine. No where near the pump

 

Of course it's on the back of the engine. Why am I not surprised.
