Wheel spacers and factory rim photos

i am considering 1 inch spacers for my sport. Would love to see photos. Also, is there a lot more dirt and debris splashing the side of your truck. Thanks in advance.

 

Well I guess there’s a first for everything. I guess I should’ve said rocks and stones. I don’t want to screw up paint job on a newer vehicle with wheels sticking out. That’s what I meant

 

You may know, but in case you don't. You have to take your wheels off periodically to re-tighten wheel spacers so your wheels don't fall off. And they cause premature wear on parts. Just a heads up in case you weren't aware.

I suggest spending more and getting wheels with a slightly wider stance if that's the look you're going for.

 

That’s what I was looking for. I have use spacers multiple times in the past. Just looking for photos and opinions from anyone who currently has them on their Tacoma with stock wheels. Thanks

Looks great!, any extra crap thrown on your truck with the spacers?

 

They design the vehicle with the tire in the wheel well to prevent throwing rocks. On DOT regulated commercial vehicles it is mandatory as are mud flaps.

Modifying it for cosmetic purposes without an extra wide mud flap to protect the person behind you shows an appalling lack of common courtesy.

 

Yeah Falken tires 265/75/16, 2.25 spacers up front, 1.5 blocks in the rear and a set of Bilstein 5160’s. Truck spends all of its time on the street...no vibrations no squeaks these parts work well with stock suspension components I’m happy with it.

Manufacturers keep wheels tucked in for aerodynamics for better fuel mileage less drag...most large trucks and trailers require mud flaps because they don’t have large enough wheel wells if any.

 

been running spacers for a few years. they work and look great. haven't noticed a ton of additional crap on the side of the truck

 

How big of spacers are you running? I've got a new 18 sport, and looking to push the wheels out a little. My 17 Sport had 1.5" Spacers, plus wheels with offset (don't remember how much) and the paint took a hell of a beating on the doors. I want to add spacers for a little wider stance, but afraid of busting my paint up again. Searching these forums for 2 days trying to find an answer, but coming up empty handed.

 

I was under the impression that wheels need to be inside the wheel well for protection on a blowout. If a tire comes apart it will mostly be contained normally, where as if the wheel is sticking out a few inches past it’ll half hit the fender sending chunks of rubber flying

Note it applies to commercial vehicles and lifted trucks.

 

Just to clarify... the premature wear on parts isn't because of the spacer itself, it's from increasing the backspacing/pushing the wheel out further, which adds additional leverage and stress on the wheel bearings and ball joints. It would be the same exact experience as using the equivalent backspaced wheel.

 

1 inch spacers. i'm on stock wheels, so they don't stick very far out.

 

Ahh, ok. I ordered the 1.25. Should be here tomorrow, will install Saturday and put up photos iof before and after incase anyone in future wants to see em.

 

Here's the before and after, 1.25" on stock Sport wheels, incase anyone wants to know how much of a difference it makes. I'm extremely happy with the decision of going 1.25 vs 2" as a bunch of friends of mine were saying. Tread lines up perfectly with the mud flaps, so hopefully cut down on rocks hitting doors, while the actual tire itself extends out past the mud flaps for the wider stance look.
