Your LC is auto, correct? Does it vibrate idle?

A straight six is naturally balanced. theyre some of the smoothest types of engine aside from v12s... doubt he gets vibes

It's less Tacoma and more mod
It vibes a little but it's an inline 6, and inline sixes have perfect primary balance so it's usually only when it's changing rpm quickly that you feel it, like when the AC kicks up. It doesn't really vibe much at slow idle in gear. If I throw it in neutral you can't tell it's on even, unlike the 4cyl in neutral which you def can feel a lot.

It'll stop vibrating if I throw it in Park or Neutral. Only happens in Drive.

anything with an odd number of cylinders in a bank is more difficult to balance.. advantage to a v6 vs a straight 4 cylinder is that you can balance it out with firing one on each side.. where as a 4cylinder on has the one bank.. in all reality i believe a 3 cylinder would technically be the hardest to balance (ignoring a 1 cylinder)

I think if we just spun the rotating assembly without the explosions you'd be right but given the explosions and compression they sorta balance them selves out under use. Four cyl have the whole one direction of movement and 90° offset deal working against them. 90° V4 probably would be pretty smooth though, cause that would balance perfect

look at the boxer engines... they manage to be pretty smooth without the use of balance shafts.. because you can at least fight the combustion process with another bank going back at it... kinda evens it out

Yeah that means the orientation is 90° out of phase but it still is fighting that with explosions like you said.

    Could be both. They’re original.

It’s even worse in my truck because the lock rod in the door rattles against the sheet metal.

You can leave it running and parked or whatever you need so that it makes that vibration and then use a dowel or long screwdriver or stethoscope if you have it and check those mount locations. Might give you a good idea what you're dealing with

You know it might be the tranny mount. I bought the whole crossmember from the junkyard when I did my conversion.

It was laying on the ground so who knows what kind of condition it was in.

I don’t think it’s the engine mounts, I don’t remember it vibrating like this with my A340E. By process of elimination it should be the transmission mount.

And then verifying by putting ears on the noise with something that will allow you to isolate the noise sounds like quality troubleshooting :)

My 95 2.7 auto vibrates at idle, without AC. It has 155,000. All my mounts (eng+trans) seem good and right now the engine runs really smooth, at all RPMs. I don't think it is idling to slowly, but I don't have a tach.

I just got myself one of those wooden beaded seat covers and consider it a free massage.

My brain is a piece of crap today. I'm looking at GM weatherpack connectors on my desk and the crimper and I don't understand how the crimping tool works. I should have spent the extra $70 on the better crimper.
