Leased a 2018 DCLB yesterday and feel I got a pretty good deal. Ordered 16x8 fuel beast wheels with a +1 offset. For tires went with 265 75 16 falken wildpeak at3w. Also ordered some step rails as my 5 year old was having some issues getting in. My question is will the new wheels and tires rub slightly at full turn or stuffed if mildly off roaded? I’ve seen the video of a guy running 285 75 16 on stock wheels and all he had to do was heat gun the fender liners a bit. I’m okay doing that as well if needed but just curious is anyone is running same width and offset with stock suspension? I did some searching but couldn’t quite find exact setup. Worse case I will add a dreaded 1.5 inch spacer level kit in the front.

    Congrats and welcome!!

I leased my truck as well. But honestly, taking a heat gun to a leased vehicle is asking for trouble unless your prepared to suffer the consequences at the end of the lease. Adding bolt ons and removable upgrades are allowed but not modifications that are permanent. A friend of mine just got dinged for 1200 bucks we he turned in his ‘14 Tundra for adding an aftermarket graphics package not done at the dealer without “permission”. I guess they consider that non removeable but your mileage might vary though. He had three choices: pay it, buy it, or lease another vehicle but with 1200 bucks tagged on. Ouch!!!

Me personally just my .02, I don’t think I could put up grades on a leased truck it almost seems like a waste of money but maybe I’m missing something

Historically I’ve just purchased the vehicle at end of lease and sold private party for roughly 1-2k more than residual value. Residual is about 27.5 and could probably sell around 30. I see what you’re saying, but not everyone just turns them in at the end of the lease. My wife’s accord sport is end of lease in May and residual is 14.5 and should be able to sell for 16-16.5. We then use that on down payment for next vehicle. Basically down is always covered by previous vehicle.
And to be honest, mods are almost always a waste unless you plan on keeping a vehicle forever. You’ll never get the money out you spent on the mods regardless.

I also have color matched rear bumper with tech package. Can’t understand why they color matched the whole front and then had chrome bumper only in the rear for lower end TRD off road packages. Wanted a metallic gray or whatever it’s called but couldn’t find one with 6 foot bed and color matched rear bumper. Have always liked white so it was an acceptable second choice.

Funny you say that. I had a shelf along the backside of the garage that’s now above the truck. Thought it would fit with the shelf but didn’t.

Had a shell from my f350 above the Camaro, but the taco was about 6 inches too long in the same spot with the 16 inch wide shelves at the back of the garage. I sold the shell so still had the setup up top, so took them down and Jerry rigged them up top. Need to build a shed. Too much crap.

Like I outlined in the 3 choices, pay, buy, or lease a new one. Buying it is the smart choice in his case. Not sure what he did?!? I think he traded. But anywho, yeah, mods are a waste unless your buying/leasing the same vehicle and the mods match up. When I trade at end of lease, I’m either going to buy or lease for a tundra or another Tacoma. Not sure yet. All the accessories I bought will either be traded to new Tacoma or sold. I’ll get back some moolah but at least for the 4 years I have it, I get to enjoy them.

My point was just that most people are impervious to what they can and can’t do with a lease. Dealerships don’t tell you. Since you really didn’t specify, I was hoping to spare you a headache, that’s all.

Why not? If you lease for 3 to 4 years, you get to enjoy it. Most people that buy, only keep it 4 to 5 years then trade it in. Really no difference. Either way, buy or lease, you lose money on your upgrades unless they are bolt for bolt tradable on your next purchase. But if you LOVE your truck at lease end, you can buy it making it a moot point.

Most everything came in today. Tyger side steps/rails. 16x8 fuel beast wheels 0 offset and 265 75 16 falken wildpeaks. If anyone near meridian, Idaho needs 180 mile stock wheels or tires let me know.
