Any reason why using alluminium would be a bad idea? It's not like the rack needs to handle banging on rocks, it just needs to support the weight of an RTT (plus 2 people when static), and a few accessories.

Having the corrosion resistance is a major pro for me since I'll be using it on the beach more than a trail.

you would have to worry about the weight capacity, meaning that you would have to buy thicker tubing. So the real issue would be cost, compared to steel anyways. Also, if youre like me, i only have a HF mig welder, so aluminum is out of my wheelhouse. If none of those things are an issue for though, its doable. It would be worth your time to buy cardboard tubing, mock up exactly what you want, then take it to a fab shop and have them build it from aluminum. I did that with my bumper and saved a small fortune

I did some poking around and SOS sells their bedracks in either steel or aluminum, and they use the same size tubing for both. The local fab guy I'm going to work with didn't blink an eye when I mentioned aluminium so I'm guessing he has the right welder.

@90yota Amazing rack and concept. Do you have pics of the rack flipped open? How does the bushings and mounts hand all that weight?

Thanks! I cant flip it though, it's too heavy. I dont trust putting all that weight on 2 mounts. If it was aluminum and a normal rtt i would do it but being steel and a ruggedized tent which already weighs 100lbs more than the typical tent I dont feel like ruining my bedside. My entire setup is 300lbs. But having it on bushing ends makes it easy to remove with only 4 bolts

Great job just a little overkill on clearance. That 3" means me getting into my garage.

I'm looking for a 2016+ bed rack over the softopper.

Jerry at BAMF does not make them.
Tracy at All Pro does not make them.
Datin Fabrication does not makes them.
KB Voodoo does not make them.

SOS Concepts seem to make them, but communication with Eddy has been tough.

Does anyone know where I can currently buy one of these online? The internet is flooded with pictures of these but I can't find anywhere that actually sells them.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm looking for this style.

Datin only makes the rectangular modular style, and KB Voodoo's don't fit over softopper canopies.

check with welder/fabricators and ladder rack makers in your local community. This is very basic work for an experienced welder. Start with a simple yelp search and go from there.

Thanks, but that's not what I'm asking or looking for. Not looking to go find a custom job. I'm sure somebody makes these and sells them online.

Again, does anyone know where I can find a 2016+ bedrack that fits over a softopper, similar to the photo above.

    A thing or two...
SOS Concepts and Dissent Offroad are only racks that I've seen online that are supposed to fit over toppers.

I've never heard of anyone running the Dissent rack, and there have been at least a couple threads on here about the toppers not fitting under the SOS racks.

Sorry that my answer wasn't more direct. I went through the same process, but on my second gen and absolutely no one, besides SOS was willing or interested in making one that fit over a softopper or supertop. SOS expressed that the price to ship would would make the project cost prohibitive. I was able to find a couple people in my local community that were interested in the job and ultimately ended up with this. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/show-off-your-bed-racks.287643/page-45#post-16479910

    Good luck with your search.
