I am also interested in the fairing and cab rack. I am sure it will be awesome.

What table do you use for you stove? Alps mountaineering fold up table?

Guessing you must be up tonight working as well.. That is actually a Partner Steel table, to go with my Partner Steel stove... o_O

To be completely honest I looked at about every table made trying to find the "right" one. I actually carried a 3ft Costco plastic folding table for awhile and to be honest it was fine. I ordered the table in those pics the same time I bought the stove and the thing I like most about it is it collapses to about 4ft long but only maybe 5" diameter and came with a super heavy duty bag. I was very insistent on a table that would fit in my "skinny" decked drawer so I wouldn't have to deal with it being in the way and this fit the bill perfectly. It is actually designed to hold a double stove (4 burners) so it's 22" square but since I only run the 2 burner I cut a piece of Aluminum the same size as my stove to fill the void and use it as a table for pans and stuff like that. It wasn't inexpensive but it's built like a tank...

Only problem now is my wife seems to think we need another table... personally I think the tailgate is fine... I did really like those ALPS tables and to be honest that is probably what I would have bought had I not stumbled onto the Partner Table...

Yeah, I am working night shift this rotation. Currently on 12 hr days since one of our coworkers is out sick.

Cool, I didnt know they sold a table. I am thinking of going with a Alps table for my stove and general use at camp. I like using the tailgate but with the GFC I am not going to want to have stuff in the way of climbing in.

Been lurking here since the early days and debating the benefit of GFC camper vs GFC RTT on top of an outback since I have the outback (daily driver) and don’t intend on doing any rock crawling etc to justify the truck. The main benefit I see is fuel economy since +85% of my time will be daily driver with occasional weekend or summer trip with the family. I’d be interested in DCLB to fit everyone (3 kiddos and the SO) which is ~3ft longer than the outback (189.5” vs 225.5”).

I can lay the seats down in outback (or just ground tent) for the kids but would use RTT for adults. I have even thought about putting it on top of a teardrop trailer to keep the rear free.

Here is a company that provides lift kit and “armor” for the Outback. Not sure if others have seen it or not.

Welcome!!! Not sure if there was a question in there anywhere... but yes you should buy a Tacoma with a GFC and keep the outback as your daily. Than you should put an awning with full room off the sides for your children. If you’d like to give me your CC info and address via PM I’ll start ordering everything you “NEED” :boink: I am a standup guy I’d never steal from anyone but man you’ll have some cool stuff showing up at your house.. sound like a deal? Lol

You’re right, there wasn’t a direct question in there I suppose it was more a way of trying to find out if others that have been following the GFC build have had similar thoughts on the GFC RTT on an existing vehicle that’s not overland AF vs just getting a truck and building from there.

This guy made his outback more overland than I’m looking to:

    https://expeditionportal.com/featured-vehicle-2017-4xpedition-subaru-outback-3-6r/

I haven’t really investigated all the ends /outs of modifying a truck with new suspension, etc but my main concern would be how it impacts the warranty etc, even though I know Tacoma’s are pretty reliable.

I also don’t have the space/ tools/ experience to do a lot of the work myself, so the idea of just putting an RTT on the top of the Subaru or on a travel trailer seems more effective. But it sure is fun to read and see what everyone else is doing!

Why not just put a GFC RTT on your outback, best of both worlds.

That’s my thought process in the original post, but I guess I didn’t communicate that clearly. Not sure if the RTT will fit the Subaru (or other wagons like VW/Volvo) though it seems like there would be plenty near Bozeman to try it out.

I wasnt sure if you meant an RTT in general or the GFC RTT. To me it sounds like the RTT is the way to go for you. I am sure they could find a way to mount it for you, Subaru are pretty popular.

My fiance has an Outback and I have a Tacoma. To be honest, the Outback is tremendously more comfortable. But I still feel that once I get out there, I will want to venture farther, and that's why the Outback will remain stock and the Tacoma will be built slowly. Just my input on the topic. Feel free to ask me any more questions, I'm new to Tacomas, but I do own both vehicles you are talking about.

+1 on this! And would be great to have a rear window awning like the Alu-Cab!

I wonder how much the wind fairing will cost as an add on, when it seems like it could be included in the base price, but I shouldn't nit pick before the price is actually announced. Also, I'd like to have the option of the hi-viz orange windows as an option. Nice work GFC team!

I need some help from the collective. I received my awning mounts today and I am not sure theyll work. The GFC site says it works for eezi awn shade awnings (i have the swift) and I checked and measured my awning brackets and theyre the same dimensions as the shade so I went ahead and ordered the awning mounts from GFC. I tried to mock them up today and I am not sure how it can work unless I only use 2 bolts per awning mount. It isnt possible to get 4 bolts per mount attached to the awning. I know the L brackets that come with most awnings only allow 2 bolts anyways, so mt question us dies thus seem ok? I will have to offset the brackets on the mounts to get 2 bolts to line up. I have a few pictures to show it. Are yall using 2 bolts per mount on your arb awnings or are you using all 4 per mount? 20181006_215740.jpg
    20181006_215730.jpg
Also, there is no way to attach the awning extrusion direct to the gfc mount because the bolts are much larger and the extruded slots are too far apart. It would require a different awning miunt from gfc to go that route.
    20181006_215956.jpg

    Thoughts? @wileydavis ?
