I don't think it's a brand issue, although Chrysler and Ford have their issues. Today's vehicles across the board are severely lacking in quality.

Exactly, competition is a good thing, I think Toyota will be making some improvements to our beloved Tacoma after the Ranger comes out.

I'm sure they have some tweaks / updates in the bag as it's been no secret the ranger and likely ranger raptor are coming. But I wouldn't be shocked if they dont change too much as they know the Tacoma name and associated QDR / resale will sell them with or without updated features /etc.

Yeah even Toyota is missing on quality lately.

Yep. $40k 3rd gen I'm less confident about than my $32k 2nd gen. Not cool Toyota.

I heard the Ecoboost has a plastic oil pan. Is that true?

Some of them do. 3rd gen has a plastic oil filter housing. I doubt Ford slaps a plastic oil pan on this version for the Ranger, especially the Raptor Ranger.

If Toyota can't fix the engine map on my MT (because fuck their TSB that has all the MT info except explicitly saying MT) and this god damn rear end whine, I'll be in a 5th gen 4Runner next year. My family has loved their Toyotas but this is the first I've been in I'm just losing faith in.

I love my turd gen, but I agree. Just noticed my rear end whine a few weeks ago on my 17 (this is my 3rd, 3rd gen, first one had it too) at 12k miles in, same as last truck that had it. That and all the little things aren't exactly confidence inspiring. Shit coming on here and seeing, rust coming through the paint, failing clearcoats, etc. is enough to consider moving to a Japanese built vehicle.

Yeah I've genuinely been considering going for the GX instead of the 4Runner but they're so damn ugly. Maybe I'll hold on to this until the new ones release and hope they're better but at this point, the 5th gen T4R is pretty much bulletproof and "ancient" based on most reviews. Sounds like my kind of truck.

Yep, I miss / sorta regret trading my 2015 for the 3rd gen. I knew how to work on that thing with my eyes closed, simple, but proven, sure archaic but solid minus the few 2nd gen quirks. Time will tell how the 3rd gens pan out.

Depreciation is about the same for a Toy and a Ford. I compared best I could between a Taco and a F-150, I think Ford lost less.

I'm happy for the competition. Keep Toyota pressing forward.

That's definitely not what my search of local car lots shows. Or any basic web search.

Time has already told us. 3rd gen is solid. Love mine. No issues. Don't allow a few to sway your opinion.

Can't really say that 3 years into a design cycle bud. I do like mine, but there are some small things that I never had to deal with in my 1st or 2nd gens.
