The truck was okay driving when I got it, and now it's how I think it should drive. Sure they could tighten things up a little but it's a huge improvement. I don't know if you've driven a 2010+ 4runner, but its a lot more like that. I find it is even smoother though, on the 4 runner you punch it and it can take a few seconds sometimes, I think with the new flash my taco accelerates more quickly now than the 4runner. It really made me enjoy driving the truck. As far as your dealer not flashing and @Spare Parts . I don't get why not, it doesn't cost them anything and it takes 10 minutes. I'd call around and ask a few other places and see if they will do it.

Oh, I haven't even asked yet. I may for giggles, but given the headaches people have had, I'm anticipating it. I've actually had luck with the 3G getting fixed, I got denied regularly for the 2G.

When you are looking at trucks, go with the SuperCrew (full 4 doors) car seat doesn’t fit in a the SuperCab (clamshell doors) 2.7 is a really strong motor, but like all things EcoBoost it’s either Eco or Boost. So when you get your foot in it the gas mileage is gonna suck. But on the highway cruising they get around 23mpg

What do you usually get for intervals? About 10k miles?

Oh for sure. I used to have a F-150 lariat SuperCab and I wouldn’t go with it again. I think it had plenty of room but it’s super inconvenient to have to open my door in order to get to the back door. Especially when I had someone in the back seat say in a parking space. You have to both wedge in and open the doors at the same time to get in.

No. The wife’s Jeep does. The spec on the 3.6L is a quart per 2,000 so I’m not going to win the battle there.

I have issues with 5w-20 but since I’ve got the Maxcare lifetime warranty I’m not going to stress it outside of keeping on top of it so I don’t run it low.

In march of 2016 I picked up my 2005 TRD Off-Road access cab 4x4 v6 Manual with 84,000miles for $16,500. I paid a little over market value but it was worth it for me. You can probably stick close to your budget if you're willing to settle for a v6 with higher miles or the i4. There's a few dealerships in NH that carry a good stock of Tacomas usually. But I'm not sure how far you're willing to travel. Autotrader is probably a good site to keep tabs on. I'm pretty sure if you get financing from a bank credit union it doesn't matter where you get the truck. But the 2 times I've financed it's been a dealership purchase.

Yeah! I listened to it a few times, I like it for what it is. I think the regular Dance Macabre is one of the better songs off that album, along with Faith.

The truck has a counter that looks like it would typically land me around 10k. I did the first change at 5 and just did another at 7500 past that. I think I am sticking to around 7500 on synthetic. That is what I did on the Tacoma.

I actually have a SuperCab. I special ordered it because I didn't want a crew cab and it was hard to find SuperCabs that were relatively loaded on lots. I don't have or want kids so the bed space is more valuable to me than a bigger cab. I would say the back seat of my SuperCab is very similar to my Tacoma's back seat for size and legroom, only marginally smaller.

I get 23 MPG on a hilly rural commute of mostly 45 MPH roads. Highway at 70 I get about 24. Highway at 55 I can get 25-26. I have no cities to speak of around here so I don't know what I would get with a lot of stop and go.

So I just drove it and I’d have to say I like it a lot. Very comfortable tons of room. Quiet on the road and very smooth. That engine has definitely got some pep to it. I found the original window sticker in it and shows that it only has 3.55s in it despite the dealers description saying it had 3.73s

3.55s are by far the most common config. Did it have the e-locker? That's standard with the FX4 package, but it could have also been added as a standalone option.

There's a Ford tech info site where you can put in a VIN and it'll give you a line-by-line build of the truck. It's kind of a pain to navigate. If you don't want to try to figure it out, I can run it quick if you send me the VIN.

Got tired of running to/from home depot for hardware - hit up boltdepot.com (Mass based company) for a few assortment boxes... nothing like ordering 300$ worth of hardware - at least it'll get used for sure.

Those STX trucks are a lot of bang for your buck. I almost went that route. My truck has heated seats, remote start, and some other things that those don't but in the end there isn't a huge difference considering how much cheaper the STX is.
