You guys are lucky! I have no deer where I live. Too north. What I do have though are giant herds of bison along the highways. There are about 1 collision a week involving them. Not pretty.

Good luck seeing them in low light. They're almost black. I need to invest in a light bar.

I honestly would not swerve to miss a deer unless it’s really minimal. Insurance will cover the damage. I’d hate to lose control and head off road.

NWT, along the Mackenzie river. At least I dont think there are deer... I've never heard of them being in the area. Tons of moose though.

Do you get the deer you hit? Allowed to take it home? If no damage, loaded in the truck under a tarp...venison meat for the winter.

Thankfully I have not hit one yet (fingers crossed:fingerscrossed:) but I would imagine it wouldn't be good since the fronts of our 3rd gens are 95% plastic. However, I plowed 5 or 6 with my 1st gen 2002 and you could never tell once all the hair blew out of the grill :rofl:lol

Hitting a deer while hauling ass is a losing proposition for both parties involved.

I hit one, his head came through the windshield and we had a staring down contest.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
In most states it is illegal to possess a game animal without a registered kill tag. Most of the time you call the DNR, or sherriff, and ask for a road kill tag. They'll give it to you so you can take the animal. But if you're in the middle of nowhere it sometimes isn't worth the wait for them to get to you.

I hit a deer a couple years ago. It tripped as it came out of the ditch and I ran over it like a giant speed bump. Didn't touch bumper. I ended up shooting it with my carry gun to finish it off.

My favorite deer/car collision was when we had the whole family in the minivan coming home from Thanksgiving dinner. I was a teen and my dad let my teenage brother drive. Car in front of us clipped one and it was lying in the highway looking right at the whole family as my brother plowed right into it. Mom screaming, dad yelling to brake, me laughing...what a shit show. I still give my brother shit for that to this day.

Do not "SWERVE" to avoid hitting a deer. You either come to a complete stop or hit the deer.
