My TB got dirty fairly fast. I used an afe pro dry in my stage 2 intake. Not sure if that contributed to it but i had two filters and rotated them every 5k, and washed the dirty one when putting in the clean one.

Haven't cleaned my TB or MAF yet so I'm assuming it's really dirty at this point. Replaced my cabin and air filter around 40k.

Probably one weekend in a year chance. Was off Saturday for work and fiancee was in a class Saturday and Sunday so I had time to detail her car Saturday and ride my bike, and then detail the truck Sunday and play video games :)

Now back to the grind at a crappy day at work. :(

    Diagnosis request.

I've been getting it for a while but now seems to be louder and more often. At highway speeds, I am getting a clicking from the LF (and potentially the RF but can't hear it as much) that is not a continuous clicking, but rather will usually click something like 3 times in a row every second, then nothing for 5-10 seconds, then a single click, and so on. Not consistent. It happens just going straight with no bumps in road also. Some clicks are louder than others.

I am thinking CV axle but just weird it's not a continuous or pattern of clicking. I do desperately need to grease my UCA bushings but wouldn't think I'd be getting a clicking when they are not cycling at all. My balljoints are leaking grease but don't think that's the source either.

    EDIT - Fix here

When i swapped out my suspension, i had a loose sway bar link and it made a noise similar to what you describe. Kind of a creaking or clicking. Only when the suspension cycled though. Easiest thing to do is bounce the front end up and down while its parked. Check torque on all the bolts. The suspension will still cycle even if just a bit on smoother roads.

No sway bar, and I have attempted to cycle it when parked, the only thing I'm getting is a horrendous squeaking/creaking noise that I'm pretty sure is from my UCA bushings.

60k service (wanted to do it early) completed at 54,500 for my records. Still need to grease driveshaft, I ran out of time last night.
    • Oil change
    • Tire rotation
    • Throttle body & MAF cleaning
    • Spark plugs
    • Front diff drain/refill
    • Rear diff drain/refill
    • T-case drain/refill
    • Fuel system cleaner
    • Cleaned/regreased UCA's
Everything went pretty smoothly, I did notice I'm getting what sounds like more tire noise now from the LR. That tire was the spare at one point and was last the RF, so it has more tread than the other four tires which I think is contributing to the typical mud tire noise but it's annoying. I may swap the LR and RF back just to ensure it's that and go from there.

Still need to take to Toyota for the trans flush.

EDIT - On a side note, my front and rear diff fluids were gross. T-case looked almost brand new but the front diff was black and the magnet had caught a lot of sludge, and the rear diff was this weird olive drab color and the magnet had caught the same looking stuff as the front.

I did my diffs, tranny, and tcase twice while I had mine. Every time I did, the front and rear diff oils were pretty black looking, while the tranny and tcase still looked fairly new. I guess the diffs just get more usage out of them. How bad did your throttle body look? Mine had a decent layer of crud on it at each cleaning. I ran an AFE Dry filter for most of the trucks life.

Actually meant to tag you...throttle body was actually not really dirty at all. Sprayed and wiped it and only a little carbon came off on the rag. MAF wire actually was real dirty so I’m glad I cleaned that as well.

Also I did swap that tire I was talking about making more noise, back to the spare, and the noise is gone. The tread difference isn’t that much and I never heard it when that tire was on the RF, so it’s kinda weird but the tire noise definitely disappeared after I swapped those two.

FYI, noise was coming from my TC UCA's for anyone with similar complaints. I think I had let it go too long without re-greasing the bushings and there was a bunch of nasty grime getting in between the arms and the bushings. When I did the 60k (55k), I cleaned them up a bunch and regreased, and the noise went away. I think they were just slightly binding and causing that click or tick noise while I was driving.

Your PS pump ever run real loud when your had yours? I've noticed mine has usually always been pretty whiny but noticed it is louder than it probably should be. Fluid is not too low, just tiny bit below min lines when hot and cold. Weird because it's a sealed system and I don't see any leaks, but I could be missing it I guess.

I was thinking about doing that link that I posted above or just do a couple cycles of sucking out most fluid from reservoir, filling, driving and steering, then repeat until most fluid has been exchanged? Any thoughts?

I always just sucked out as much as i could every 30k and refilled with fresh atf. I didnt have any noises out of mine at 8 years and almost 90k when i sold it.

Yeah I think I'll start with the turkey baster method and just do 5 or so cycles of suck/refill or until fluid looks good

I've seen Dex III is compatible?
