Finally a fix from Toyota for Stumble condition (TSB 0062-18)

    Toyota of orange CA agreed to do it no hassle but I had to reschedule for next week because I guess they want me to leave my truck over night. I guess that after the flash the engine needs to cool down over night then they double check everything its ok, not sure if this makes any sense or they just do it to keep people from having it done.

    I don't remember exactly what he said, but something about the fluid and that they release a tacoma before and the transmission messed up so now they wait over night.

    anyone had to wait overnight ?

    Um, no. The ECM flash takes about 10 minutes and has nothing to do with any fluids or temperature.

    maybe to check your transmission fluid level to make sure it's correct and rule that out as a possible contributor to your issues ..

    Nope, Toyota pays 0.4 hours to the dealership for this TSB regardless how long it takes them.

    3000 miles post TSB. First 2500 miles were good, but at 2500 miles I could feel old habits returning. 3000 miles in and I feel like I'm right back where I started pre-tsb. Shifting is al over the place. On acceleration, it's upshifting way to soon again and I feel the dead pedal sensation. And then it quickly downshifts one or two gears to maintain acceleration.

    I’ve noticed mine slowly returning back to its old ways. It’s not holding gears as long and is starting to stumble a little. This is a bummer because it was driving great right after the TSB.

    Yup - exact same experience for me. Disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery for a reset also does not seem to help.

    probably not the fix people are looking for but prior to the TSB and since I have be using S mode instead of D. There is no learning in S mode and have not noticed any change in the performance since the latest update

    3500 miles in and just came back from a long trip - TSB was done at 1000 miles. Either the shifting is getting better, or Im getting used to it, or both. Had it in D the whole trip, used CC and it shifts down on steep hills, but its supposed to. Sixth gear wont handle too much and I dont think it should be lugged at low rpm's like that anyway. It went to 4th twice on me the whole trip - 2.5 hours on the X-pressway. my mileage was 19.8 against a healthy headwind while in CC. Ill take it.

    I took my usual weekend trip to my cabin, and got 22 MPG average over almost 230 miles in D. This included pulling stumps on my property and idling with the AC on where I averaged 1.5 MPG during the work. I also had a ladder on my roof. I don't think I can ask for much more than that. I've never gotten even close to that before. I don't use CC at all as I go from relatively flat ground to mountain foothills.

    I did get 23.7 over a 46 mile round trip earlier in the week.

    I have no issues with the shifting or whining in my truck.

    FYI, a Tacoma will pull up to about a 6" stump. Any bigger than that it's pretty exciting with the jarring and noise, but not very productive.
