Really have wanted a cap for a long time. First, with my 2nd gen long bed (never did it—expensive estimate) and now—my short bed double cab is crying out for one. I am basically sold on one, but damn do a lot of you guys complain about them not being sealed. I'm not looking to put a bed rug in or keep anything in there that can't handle some water drops every now and again... but it's making me second guess the whole thing because so many have had bad experiences (leaky windoors, etc). I really want to be able to put stuff in the bed and not have it completely exposed to the elements.

Does anyone regret their purchase? Or, feel willing to give advice to someone who hasn't pulled the trigger yet? :notsure:

    Thanks in advance!

Definitely get one for what your described. It may leak a bit in some spots or if time taken to seal everything up, no drops.
I do like having everything protected, 98% dry, pretty dust free, and able to lock it up.
Some are better than other brands and simplicity seems best.
I ordered mine with extra fiberglass blown in all corners down to bed rails so I can eventually carry more weight up top and it keeps the backend (rear door) from being splayed out, pushing the box bed sides out.
    Haven't needed bed stiffeners.
I myself will not go without one.

I'm content with my Tonneau cover... Light & easy to remove.

I'd buy mine again. Regret even wasting time with a hardshell tonneau.

Hell yeah! I like how this is going. Can anyone attest to windoors and other add ons for leers? Is simpler better? Or will I hate not being able to access the bed unless through the tailgate?

Definitely 110% recommend windoors. I would definitely regret not getting them.

I can't speak for leers or windoors as I opted out of them ( dont personally like the way the look) but here are a couple picks of my Cement OR with an A.R.E. Z series

Definitely on the highend of caps but I like it. IMG_4643.jpg

No regret. Only time would be wanting to take it off at times. When I had mine installed they weather sealed it so no leaks. That’s what keeps me from removing it sometimes. I kept covering the back before I had the cap. Way better.

I like my topper but the few times I've wanted to remove it I ended up saying screw it and paying for delivery. Just too heavy and awkward to maneuver without 3-4 people. I haul two kayaks by putting one on the roof and one in the bed with an extender, sometimes think it would be easier without it but it's so nice being able to leave stuff in there and keeping it dry and secure

I personally didn’t get the windoors, didn’t have them on my last and can’t see of any reason I’d need them. I guess having a short box I couldn’t justify it

You just have to be realistic with yourself… would you really use them? That’s your answer

Never thought I'd use them and had someone recommend them to me. Glad I listened to them and happy I got them.

I also opted out of carpet even though it was free. Didn’t have it before, preferred not to deal with water and a soaked rug even though I’m installing it myself. Already have a plan of attack and things I need to get ahead of time

I opted out of lights too, I’ll do this myself with better lights

It’s definitely a thing I can see convenient if it fits your needs, it just doesn’t fit mine.

I did opt for the fold/tilt front picture window (no slider) that I didn’t have on my last and needless to say for the 9 yrs it was on there it never got fully clean between the 2. That will be a nice extra for me. I opted out of the slider though cause again I never used that lol

It's true the light is junk. Got my own that are much brighter:

I will always have a cap on my pickup. This is a Snugtop on my 2015 Tacoma.

There is so much better out there. That’s a nice setup! I haven’t planned my lights & placement yet.

What’s that square cut out in you bed mat for?
