    I'm getting to that...

What the Toyota lacked in power and availability of luxury options on certain trim levels, it more than made up for it in overall quality!

When it comes to interior fit and finish, especially with 1986-1993 S-series models, the Toyota wins hands down...

I apologize for this, but I feel that the 4.3L "Vortec" V6 is a superior engine to the 3.0L V6 offered in Toyota pickups and T4Rs until 1995. They don't call it the 3.slow for nothin'!

    1989 Toyota pickup V6:

    6-cyl. OHC with EFI

    3.0 liters (2958cc)

Horsepower (SAE net): 150 @4,800 RPM

    Torque (SAE net): 180 ft.-lbs. @ 3,400 RPM

Chevy S10 vs Toyota Tacoma. There is no comparison. In 2001 I bought a really sharp red LS S10 new. Didn't seem to be a bad truck for first year and a half. It then started loosing power and bogging down when I gave it gas. I was on the way to the dealership thinking it was something with the fuel system when the engine let loose. At 22000 miles it spun a bearing and trashed the engine. The engine was replaced and I took it to a Toyota dealership and the rest is history. The only truck I would compare to a Tacoma would be the 86 Mazda B2200 SE5 that I had before the S10. That was an awesome little truck.

I agree with you on Tacoma vs. S10, but this is Hilux vs. S10. Was yours a 2.2L 4-banger or a 4.3L V6?

The S10 was a 4 banger. Sorry about confusing Hilux and Tacoma. They have always been Tacoma's to me. What was the little Datsun pick ups called? I thought those were Hilux before they were called Frontiers or Hardbodies. I could be wrong.

The owner of this wasn't too friendly with regards to chatting about the truck...

Many years ago, in Doylestown, I met this couple from Canada who drove their Toyota Dolphin camper all the way from Canada. The guy was very friendly, popping the hood for me and letting me take all the pictures I wanted. Unfortunately, those pictures are long gone...

    :annoyed:
