Just a little update...I will try to get some more sound clips this weekend and get them posted on the page. I know @dirtydeeds has been extremely swamped but should be on soon to give some more updates on the system and his plans going forward. Keith had a local Taco scheduled to go in his shop so he could finish the different systems that they will be offering. However, that slipped through the cracks. I’m sure he will be asking for someone that is close by to be able to offer their truck up for a week so we can get this going. There WILL also be a group buy once they have all the systems they will be offering ready. We need that one person to offer up there truck to finalize this for everyone going forward.

@Frito This is the System for you and everyone else that is interested in the OVT TT. The reason we are delayed with this exhaust system releasing currently is because I originally wanted a dual exhaust system. So Keith spent a week on my truck figuring all the ins and outs of the dual exhaust system. However, with how our truck sits now, without the twin turbos, the dual exhaust system lost some low end torque. Good news is, with a twin turbo set up you will want low back pressure like Keith mentioned in a previous post of his, but low rpm scavenging too. While the turbos ‘add back pressure’ everything after the turbos will act like naturally aspirated and will actually flow more ‘even’ than if the turbos weren’t there. It will be an experiment to see what size pipe works best behind the turbos, but when the turbos hit the market, there will be very very thorough testing to determine whether or not to run dual 2″, 2.25″, or 2.5”. @dirtydeeds will be the first on the market with the best exhaust system to offer us. They are already ahead of the game with this release due to the week they have already spent on my truck whipping up the perfect foundation. Therefore, when a person shows up with turbos, they will have several test systems built ahead of time and R&D is a matter of bolting on the systems.

We really need another truck that is in the San Diego area that can be dropped off for a week or so for some more testing on the single exhaust system. Keith has a little drone to resolve, as well as, he has about 10 more setups he would like to run and test on the truck for the single exhaust. Once this is done, Dirty Deeds/BAmufflers will have the BEST single and dual custom exhaust system on the market!

In the mean time, anybody wanting a dual or single exhaust and whom doesn’t mind a little drone, these are ready to go. If drone is a concern then we will need a little more time. It all comes down to getting in another taco to finish the system. Once this takes place, group buy here we come. I will personally organize the group buy and create a list for Keith!

So I just installed my BDS 6” Suspension System with the Carrier Berrier Drop that is included in the kit. There is enough space between the Exhaust and Drive Shaft for the Y Pipe. I’d say it’s about an 1” gap. I didn’t have a tape measure with me but I can always take another pic tomorrow.

I am currently not running a Muffler on my truck. However, @dirtydeeds will be sending me one to test out and I will be able to post some sound clips after I have it installed for you. The difference between those two videos is one is a COLD start right in the morning and the other one is a WARM start after the Engine has been running for like 30-45 mins.

Thanks for all you've done to move this exciting project along Katie!

You'll of course be seeking custom tuning from Mat once 1.05 91 drops :burnrubber:

Yes. I will for sure be doing that! Thank You! It is very exciting and I really cannot wait to help Dirty Deeds get this off and running. This will be HUGE for the Tacoma Industry just like it is for the Tundras. He will basically own Tacoma and Tundras. Keith hasn’t been on for awhile because they just got hit with a group Buy from Tundra Owners that was supposed to be 20 exhaust systems and it ended up being over 70 before they closed the group buy. Trust me, he is super excited to get this off and running for all of us. Again, if there is anyone in the San Diego area that would like to be part of finishing this development process, please let us know.

So ive been following this from the beginning and ive done some homework but I'm still not clear on what i want to get to satisfy my needs. My biggest want is to rework that squashed crossover pipe that hangs low under the transfer case. I'm sure I'm not going to do turbos so single pipe is up my alley. I think i can remove the second set of cats without getting a cel. I also don't want it to drone or sound raspy, i don't mind it being louder than stock but i don't want brap brap. Any suggestions?

I think when Keith sends me a new Y-Pipe with the Muffler already inside the Y-Pipe, that will be the setup you are looking for. I will bolt on my side exit and shoot some videos with that and then I will bolt on my dump and shoot some videos with that.

So the y pipe will eliminate the last 2 cats and have a muffler and in your case it's dumping in front of the rear tire? What muffler will be included? Or is it reusing the stock?

I'm really interested in the development because while i won't be able to snag a twin turbo kit immediately at launch, it's definitely on the list of things to do and I'm interested in seeing if there ends up being a way to retain at least the upper cats to avoid popping a CEL. Yeah, yeah, I could clear the code and then pay off the dude doing the inspection if it pops up again, but I've already been there, done that with my BT ms3 and it got old; I got over it. Simplicity is attractive and a solution would be a very nice option for OVT TT customers

No. It is not reusing the stock Muffler as it will be built inside the Y-Pipe. When I get it, I will be able to post more details about it :) The New System I will be testing out will have the same exact layout I currently have on my truck so all I will have to do is unbolt my current Y-Pipe and replace it with the new one. The new system will roughly have a 16” Muffler built inside the Y-Pipe.

Keith will have a variety of options as far as where you would like your system to end. I personally went with the side exit prior to the Rear Axle or Dump due to my Rear Suspension System and my Water Tank I will be installing in place of my Spare Tire.

I definitely agree. That is exactly how this system operates. Keith’s ultimate goals with this system were to provide an amazing performance exhaust system without the drone and without the CEL popping up. Obviously, living in California himself, he knows how important all of that is and passing emissions. Even when completing my system, he was adamant about getting it right before sending me on my way.

I will say that when I left his shop, my check engine light did come on. I took it back and he did the reading and checked it out. I was in a time restraint situation with needing to get back to Oregon so I had to leave with the check engine light still on. Keith, such an amazing guy and such great customer service, set me up an appointment right when I got back to Oregon with a buddy of his that he has worked with through the Tundra community. I dropped my truck off, he gave me his Tundra to drive while he had my truck. It was absolutely amazing. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Keith was fixing to pay for whatever it was that was causing the issue. It ended up being a flange that was leaking due to a crossthreaded nut on the Driver’s Side. Supposedly, the OEM locknuts that Toyota installs are notorious for doing that when removed and reused. I was told that anytime the OEM locknuts are removed, it is a good idea to replace them with new ones. Just FYI for all of you. Since I have gotten that fixed, I have had absolutely no issues. Also, since it was such a minor fix, there was absolutely no charge as well.

Are you located near San Diego? If so, we are still looking for a truck that has an OEM exhaust system still on their truck to finalize this development stage. The ideal time would be the beginning of November so they can finalize all the options and both the dual and single exhaust systems. The dual exhaust system is finalized pretty much. It’s just a matter of testing out which size piping will be the best suited for the job when the TT come out. They have like 10 more systems they would like to experiment with for the single exhaust system prior to releasing. Once this is complete, we would like to shoot for a group buy prior to Black Friday or around that time frame.

Unfortunately not, I'm about 10 hours east of SD, out in El Paso. Lame, because I'm always willing to help out with tuners and shops like in this case, but I'm never local to wherever they're at lol

I know about the California struggle, I grew up there, a little south of San Jose
