I got a little care package from GFC today that included updated washers. The new hardware seems significantly more durable.

    FBDB98AE-E251-40B0-A480-62ABB7D74FDA.jpg E6C9AF1D-4A14-4ABA-9B7A-E8DC8C14BEC5.jpg 1A6CEACA-4475-4413-9DE4-AD83E13BEA62.jpg

I also noticed some discoloration on the old one that could be rust? I need to look at that more closely when there’s more light.

Ooh good lookin out. I put them in the same direction the originals were oriented, but that makes sense. I’ll try them flipped tomorrow.

Has anyone heard updates on the tent locking mechanism? Last info I had was the lock design was going to be done by the end of summer.

Ace is correct. You just wanna put the soft side (rubber) up against the Powdercoating to keep it from wearing it off is all. Not a big deal.

Thank you, It is going on a pretty much stock Cavalry Blue TRD Pro.

I was planning on upgrading my 2 Person Tepui RTT for an Alu Cab for my 4Runner, but when I saw these campers I started thinking about going back to Tacoma’s since I’ve had a 1st and 2nd gen before. Ended up getting a really good deal on my trade in since I was swapping one TRD Pro for another one and now I’m finally pulling the trigger on the camper a few months later.

I’m in SLC and I’m planning on mostly using it for 3-4 day mountain biking trips with one or two week long camping trips a year.

SLC? I’m sure if I lived near you I’d know what that means but I can’t even guess what part of the country you are in? Only SLC I know is Standby Liquid Control.... and unless you work at a Nuclear Power Plant you prob don’t know what that is....

So you ordered a GFC for your new Taco? I gotcha. From your comments I assumed you are gonna order the RTT version. You’ll LOVE the GFC it’s amazing. Not a thing I don’t love about mine. Seriously. Not a thing.

I wanted to do a follow up review of the GFC from the one I did last weekend. This past weekend was the Overland Bound East Coast Meet-Up held in the Adirondacks in NY this year.

To Recap my prior review- Very cold weather lots of condensation in the tent (low 30's overnight) That was last weekend...

    Now.....

This past weekend- Much warmer low 60's at night and at about 0330 it began raining, and I mean like Biblical rain, for about 2 hours. GFC Stayed completely and 100% DRY. Not an exaggeration, No leaks, and little to no condensation. It rained SO HARD that at least 1/3 of the rigs that were out got WET... Maybe a half dozen even had to bail on their RTT's and Ground tents and get into vehicles to wait out the weather.

The GFC performed amazing... I even had the side windows open maybe 8" since it was no wind at all and no rain came in. I slept awesome and aside from having to pack up in the morning with everything soaked (my awning ext) it couldn't have been more fun. If your in the Pacific Northwest and worried about waterproofness of the GFC I can tell you with certainty it is flawless...

Weekend was a blast leaves were at peak color up there and the food, beer, and company was perfect. GFC had A LOT of pictures of it taken by some of the other members. All and all it was a resounding success.

Can someone help me out. I'm wondering what the height is from the top of a bed mat (Toyota OEM) to the bottom of the GFC camper mounted on a 3rd gen Tacoma. Wondering if my XL mountain bike will fit standing upright, underneath the camper. With the front wheel off and the fork mounted to a mount that is bolted to the bed mat itself.

I believe on the GFC FAQ it is ~40".

Ugh... don’t count on me 100% on this BUT. If i remember correctly it’s just about exactly 30” above my DECKED drawer system, and the Decked System is 12”. So I’d say count on ABOUT 40”. I’m at work and my truck is at home so if you need an even more exact measurement I can do that in the morning. But 40” should be close....

I would definitely appreciate an exact if possible. But there is no time crunch, as long as it's before August 2019... :D

I asked GFC the same question. I'll include all their answers this time:

Thanks for reaching out--hope you had a great Labor Day Weekend. We're happy to answer your questions! (I'll add your other questions from separate emails here as well).

    1. The cargo space is roughly 41", and most bicycles fit when the front wheel is removed.
    2. The windows in the front/rear panels are not removable.
    3. The tent, when closed, is surprisingly tight. Aside from the mattresses, we recommend nothing more than synthetic sleepware (rolled out sleeping bag, for example).
    4. The side panels can hold a bit of weight, but there is no particular spot to mount to. Our campers do come standard with extrusions on both sides of the tent that can have just about anything mounted to them.
    5. The roof rack and awning both fit on our extrusion (I've attached a picture for reference).
    6. For orders placed today, we have an estimated completion date of May 2019. You can definitely pick your camper up in person--with this option, you avoid the shipping cost entirely and our team will install your camper at no additional cost. [That was early Sept.]
    7. We don't typically stop off-roading during the winter months--it is more contingent upon snow depth.

Hope this helps --let us know if you have any other questions!

    Best,

    GFC Team

    Thanks for the info!

Checked today... The fulfillment is now August 2019. Two days ago it was May 2019. I wish I pulled the trigger.

That being said, does anyone have a GFC camper in the SoCal area? I really want to look at one before taking the plunge. Can someone help a brotha out!
