I think the best part was how aggravated people would get when he even entered a thread. I enjoyed giggling at the anger. In fuck off threads he let his feminine hair down. He didn’t bother me ever because I didn’t care that he hated his Tacoma. Fucking off has nothing to do with trucks.

Dad owned an old 70 F-series, grandfather owned an original Bronco. Stepdad has owned 2 Raptors 14 and 18, Mom has had 2 explorers 1995 and 2013, little brother has currently a 2010 explorer with 110k and not a problem, I had 2 rangers in high school 2001 and 2003, some idler pulleys and that was it. My 03 is still running as a farm truck on my Dad's land. I don't get the Ford hate in here, but it is TW and the 3rd gen section, just gonna leave it at that...

I joined TW in Feb 2016 and the landscape was different.

I figured out early that there seemed to be some pent up ill will towards the 3rd gen from some of the well established members, and Smitty kind of got duped into being their shill.

He became a legend at TW, and that was something he couldn't escape.

And his truck probably was a POS, lol.

He got offed for some reason though, like he outlived his usefulness.

Enough with the nursery school analytics....

    Cheers

TW has never been the same since the first 3rd gens showed up. Way different atmosphere now, unfortunately.

I have had almost two years and 25K miles of problem free ownership.

    But

When I drive the Tacoma, it feels like an appliance. Combine this feeling with the fact that there are so many Tacomas on the road now, and the Tacoma just doesn't feel special. Now matter how many mods or how high of a trim, the Tacoma doesn't feel special.

If Toyota threw that Lexus turbo v6 into a raptor fighter trim level and had a full Lexus style interior, I would buy it immediately. I don't think I would be alone either.

But, Toyota won't do that. I really don't understand why either.

Ford will do that. And I think that is the difference between these top two manufacturers. Ford is willing to take risks to hold on to that cool factor.

Old school Toyota with the Supra turbo, MKII MR2, Celica AllTrac, X runner and TRD supercharger program was willing to take risks.

    Oh well...

On Tacoma number 6, 2 Rangers and some other cars in between there briefly, but always had a compact or midsize truck, love them, they fit me and my lifestyle. But I totally echo this statement of the new in thing being midsize trucks, especially Tacomas. and it seems worse now with the 3rd gen. Mid size trucks, especially Tacomas, everywhere, its the new Camry. Seen alot of 3rd gen owners this is their first truck, very few need a truck bed and so many immediate go out and lift them and stuff wheels and tires on them.

The only modded vehicles I see, mostly, now are trucks. I used to see a shyt ton of modded hondas, sport compacts and muscle cars. For a while, I saw a lot of 240sx modded cars because of the drift trend.

Now all I mostly see are modded trucks and a few chargers and challengers, mustangs and the odd Subaru. The sport compact tuning scene is finally dead I think. At least on a mainstream level.

Agree and I think they moved to the truck world. Eh. Just my observation.

The fundamental challenge I have with those JD Powers statistics, aside from the fact that these are statistics from the same company that literally gives annual awards to nearly every car manufacturer for something, is that somehow Chevrolet had a better rating than Ford but GMC's rating was worse. Last I checked a Chevy Silverado shares an awful lot of common parts with the GMC Sierra 1500. And the same can be said of many other vehicles found under either manufacturer label.

Those of us that don't own a Taco truck anymore, we are important aren't we? What would be a good label for someone who likes to take it slow and watch other people break their truck when they treat it like a Trophy Truck? Going easy on the throttle sadly doesn't work so well in Guam though.

Pretty sure there is room under Bob's big top tent for all the performers and portrayers.....

Haters too, but they usually get shot out of a cannon eventually...

The Nissan one is the most amazing to me. The guy drove his 2WD daily driver (and only means of transportation) at 60-70 MPH to get a video of it when the AutoZone special ball-joint just sort of slipped out of the upper control arm. Ideally, a wrecker would've been available but they don't usually like heading twenty miles away from paved roads into the desert sands. Pulling him was like dragging a grader.

WOW, you guys must be millionaires... all we have in our company are Ford's and 75% of the time are in the shop. The company was loosing money on repairs, tranny, heads and electrical problems. The company bought 15 Tacoma's 3rd gen when they came out on 2016 and not a single problem, they all have around 155K as of today with regular maintenance.

Yep...maybe they'll move onto something else in a few years.
