Last post of the night (my beer is nearly gone): out in California where I live (I am not proud of it) I can remember as a child in the 1960's my parents paid like 32 cents a gallon for gasoline.

Over and out: got to go to bed I have to go to work tomorrow.

Promise the last post for tonight (TW Member reminded me): when I attended Junior High School (early 1970's) bet your sweet ass if you screwed up the PE Teacher would paddle your ass. It was a common practice. Can you imagine the lawsuits that would create today...

The high school that I graduated from in tennesseee still has paddling as a disipline. Maybe it’s only around in the south now?

I remember going to the local A&P grocery store with my Grandmother where the cash register would automatically give back the right change by dropping it down a slide on the side of the machine.

I remember when the first kennedy was "removed from office" and for three days there was nothing on TV except coverage of his funeral.

I remember going into stores and the associates would put whatever you bought into a bag and give you a receipt without having to ask. and they knew how to make change and count backwards, too.

I remember when you complemented women on their good looks and overlooked their good cooking. When there were women who knew how to cook.
