I dont remember what i used. It was whatever i found on the forums years ago. I remember reading that if you can find one of those suction things like a turkey baster but with a tube on the end, you can get down lower into the resi and pull more of the dirty stuff out at a time.

You could also just disconnect the lower tube to a bucket and then slowly fill a little as you rotate the wheels back and forth. I did that a few times and after half a bottle of transmission oil (I believe?) it was perfectly clean as all the grime and crap settles at the bottom. If you do this, jack up your truck so the front tires are off the ground and have no weight on them. If you don't, then you might spend more fluid per turn as it takes more force to move the wheels while on the ground. Its a 5 minute process once you see for yourself what to do.

Spent about 7 hours detailing the truck. Engine bay, wheels/tires, 2x wash, clay, compound, polish, sealant. Long day.

I even took my roof rack off and did all the steps on the roof as well since I haven't washed the roof since I put the rack on 4 years ago. The roof was pretty dirty and took a lot of claying but wasn't as bad as I expected.

Damn dude. How much you charge? Im sure you would be cheaper than my detailer haha.

I got the ceramic coating done on the subie last spring. I think he said i am good to go for two years. But i still need to wash it. It looks horrible right now.

I enjoy detailing as a time to just chill out and listen to music, and for the results but yesterday I was on a time crunch to finish before leaving for the firehouse so it was not really enjoyable as my deadline got closer.

I am all "detailed out" for right now but in a couple weeks I may do my fiancee's car, and then her mom and dad's car as a favor, or just wait till spring since it's getting pretty cold now. All their cars need the full treatment as well, and going to do a full headlight restoration on my fiancee's car too (sand, compound, polish, seal, etc)

Just a feeler but anyone want to buy my truck? Just ticked over 57k. Got a couple small issues but in 7-8/10 shape. Looking to get something more practical for my needs.

Would most likely start around 23k-24k.

I would if I could afford it. And it would match my subie too. I know you have taken good care of her too. Sell private. Don't try to trade in. They will rape you and lube is extra.

Yup, no way I'm trading. My dad has a 07 Highlander that is in really great shape so he actually offered to give it to me since he drives about 4 miles per day to the commuter lot (takes bus to Pentagon), and he may just get a cheap lease car. So thinking about that option since it will be a more practical option and very smart financial decision.

Or may think about getting a new Camry or Accord since they look pretty good. I would like one of the new Highlanders but to be honest I really don't need a large vehicle at this point. Even when me and my fiancee start having kids, I can still have the sedan or whatever I get, then a minivan for her and kids.

The accords look pretty sweet, and the hybrid gets mpgs similar to a prius if i remember correct.

I almost sold the truck back in 2013-2014 was looking at buying a tdi jetta

Good thing you held out for a more flashy platform. I feel the jetta would have been a sad decision.

VW's have not had the greatest track record recently. Brand new Atlas' are getting warped engine heads within a couple thousand miles and all the other models have tons of their own issues...friend used to work at VW so he was telling me all about them.

I am either a Toyota or Honda guy, don't really trust anything else to be honest.

That's a bummer cause ever since they got exposed for their emissions tampering I feel they have had some serious bills to pay. That said, I know some friends who had their higher end sporty jettas and it was a crap shoot whether they had transmission issues or not. I think for a car a Honda would be my go to if I didn't want to be a cool kid with a Scooby.

Yeah that was before the whole emissions thing. I thought they were pretty nice looking. I wouldn't have picked up the wrx though if i had, so I'm glad i i didnt.
I have one, but not a cool kid haha. I love her. She is amazing. Just turned a year old and almost at 20k :)

My truck must sense its impending sale. I was driving along yesterday and felt couple drops of water hitting my knee. Hmm. Looked and the A-pillar grab handle had drops falling from it every 10 minutes or so. Felt it again on another drive later so started pulling trim panels and did a water test with my friend spraying water while I was inside checking for leak. Carpet in driver floorboard was damp but the side curtain airbag and most everything behind trim seemed bone dry.

I was real worried it was my roof rack bolts/roof weatherstripping but when I shined my light up at the bolts coming in, it was dry, and everything below it was dry. I found slight water/mold starting in one spot on underside of headliner and starting tracing from there.

After the water test, found the weatherstripping (door opening, not door itself) deformed in line with the water in the headliner and slightly cut from a rivet on the door/roof line that had a rough edge on the back side. So I ordered a new weather strip and need to file down the edge of the rivet and throw some touch up paint on it, then should be good to go after retest.

I got my carpet dried out as much as I can and I had it propped up to airdry all last night and all day today at work. My manager is letting me park the truck in the shop today since it's supposed to rain and part is supposed to be here Thursday.

In other news, also did a power steering flush to see if I could knock loose any debris in the reservoir screen to help my really loud PS pump. Did not help so next step is a new reservoir.

Ordered that and will hopefully help what I'm assuming is just low flow to the pump, causing the noise. If it doesn't help, then I'll replace the pump but the reservoir is cheaper, easier to replace, and I'm thinking it's the true "source" of the problem, but the pump is just what's making the noise.
