My phone (galaxy s9+) does not work with the USB audio, although other phones work, even using same app. (spotify or stitcher mostly). I have a stock HU w/ navi. Truck doesn't recognize USB is plugged in, although it does charge, albeit slowly. I'm sure there is a setting somewhere within the phone that's not set correctly for it to work. Have tried other cables. I know that I can use Bluetooth but was wanting to try and gain some fidelity through USB. Any help is appreciated.

Is this with the Android Auto App ???

I've got a brand new Galaxy Note 9 that worked perfectly for one day now I can't get it to work on my Pioneer HU

There's a known problem currently with LG and Samsung phones not connecting to Android Auto and displaying " device not found" or " USB not detected "

I'm going thru the same issue but on a Pioneer W8400 HU . supposedly a security update was uploaded to these phones that is not compatible with Android Auto . Pioneer is working on update/patch for this !!!

If it has Android Auto installed no matter if it's a OEM head unit or aftermarket it'll display those error messages

There's many threads being posted on car audio forums since late August to present day over this problem!!!

I did see a couple posted but was hoping it may have been something Tacoma/phone not interfacing correctly. Guess we will have to see if
a update ever happens for this. Not holding my breath for Toyota to recognize this but maybe Samsung will catch it.

Audio through USB on Android is not supported on the stock headunits. I think you can mount the phone as an external drive - it'll act the same as a flash drive but that's probably not what you want. Have to use bluetooth or AUX.

Try bluetooth. I pair my Note 8 through BT to my stock head unit with no issues. I use the Android Auto app on my phone to automatically pair the phone to the truck, and I can scroll through my playlists and subscribed podcasts on the head unit instead on having to go through my phone.

Yep I just use a lil nano USB stick formatted Fat32 or bluetooth the music on my phone. Still use the steering wheel controls. I'm guessing the S9+ is formatted a unrecognizable format to read when plugged in to the USB port
