It's a factory TRD sport. I like the handling but would like a smoother ride. Especially on a washboard road.

2nd gen sport suspension rides completely different than 3rd gen sport suspension when they are on a 2nd gen truck. Ive had both and 3rd gen is stiffer.

That's why the bilsteins I'm trying to get came off of a 2nd gen offroad.

I have mine in the garage still and may go back to them with a spacer.

The Bilsteins will not provide any lift, the lift comes from the 2016+ springs.

So I do have a set of struts off of a 4runner sport. Would those spring ride stiff also? I love being able to bounce ideas off of you guys. Its helping me figure out how to do it one time and get the results I want.

For those who have replaced their 2nd gen suspension with 3rd gens; did you take the truck in to get aligned after installing?

I recently bought 3rd gen trd OR shocks/coils for my 2nd gen trd or. I installed the back shocks since I was able to do that myself easily. Still waiting to install the fronts. I bought new hardware also. Just waiting to find someone who can help with the install or save a bit more $ and go to a shop somewhere. I do most things myself but messing with the front suspension and compresses coils isn't something I'd like to take on myself.

Pretty easy with two people. This is how we did it. I didn't link the second part.

Did you buy them with the coilovers disassembled?

Yeah I watched the video. I think I would just rather take it to a shop for this unless I was working with someone who had done it before. Plus I would need a few more tools I just don't have right now. It looks doable at home but it also looks like something I could screw up and be stuck at home with a non-working vehicle for longer than I planned for.

When I did mine I added a 1.5” AAL to the rear to match/retain factory rake if not even slightly more rake and haven’t had any issues.

Me too but I also added a 1 inch spacer in the front.

I found a CL posting for a complete set of front and back suspension from a 17 OR that the owner took off after and upgrade. My 14 OR sags when loaded with camping gear so I was looking to install an AAL to the current 14 suspension prior to seeing this thread.. Is getting a 17 and adding the AAL to that prior to swapping out a better move? I was looking to get a 1-2" lift soon anyways. I may complete that goal by just getting 17 suspension and a size larger tire from stock? (265/75/16) Any experience?

I did full 16 TRDOR swap. Leafs, Coils, Shocks. To that added progressive AAL and 1/4 top plate spacers up front. 2" in back and 1.5" in front thereabouts.
