What are the notches on the inside of the bed, on the bed sidewall for?
They are approx. 3/4" deep x 7-1/2" wide.
Has anyone come up with a good use for these? Tacoma bed side notches.jpg

Yeah, it's about the dimensions of a 1x8... but I thought that was an odd choice to go with for a make shift sheet material platform.

I just made some this weekend. Save a couple $$ and grab one 10ft'er. You'll have just a little scrap left over.

Edit: Also, it is weird that the ones on the LBs are smaller than 7.5in. I had to notch 3/4in off of a 2x8. Not a big deal really.

If you sleep like a log, does that explain the morning wood?

Then you won’t need to worry about rolling off the bed

But if you’re a restless sleeper, you’d have to worry about breaking the kickstand. New meaning to bump on a log maybe? Lol

DSC03557.jpg I added an extra set of bolts for the tailgate cable to hold the tailgate in line with those boards. Works great for carrying sheet goods in my 6 foot bed.

Well that's pretty freaking neato!

I bet a quality S hook or a hasp would work with my bed stiffeners there.

    Thanks for the idea. :hattip:

I have bed stiffeners as well as the bolts. Plenty of room for both. Very quick and easy to change over at the lumber yard with no extra parts or adjustment required.
