Thinking of swapping my pro wheels out for method NVs

I'm throwing this out there because I'm wondering if there's anything I should consider before doing this.

I'm thinking of selling the stock Pro wheels/tires that mine came with and getting black Method NV 16x8 with 285/75R16 Falken Wildpeak AT3s.

Also considered the black SCS Ray10 but I can get the Methods shipped with the tires on and balanced w/ new TPMS from carID for $1650. The SCS route would be like $300 more.

I'd then sell my Pro wheels/tires to recoup some of that.

I'd like a wider stance look and the larger tires would go better with an 8 inch rim.

    I'll trim/CMC before I get into wheeling.

I'll have to look at what they are going for, but I'd sell them local in AL.

Still trying to decide which way to go though. Also considering 265/75R16 for now with stock rims and spidertrax. All the choices are driving me crazy :/

If you plan on going to 285s I’d go with the 17” methods. 16” 285s are all 10ply for some dang reason.

Yeah, I agree, I was just struggling with that too.

Now I'm actually thinking Black Rhino Arsenal 17x9.5 -18offset/4.52 backspacing. Those with wildpeak SL P285/70R17.

I'm sure I'll have to trim, but that's fine.

I need to press the purchase button before I go nuts.

    haha :p

I called CarID and they did away with most of the shipping, so I ordered the 17 rhinos and tires.

Selling the stock wheels and tires with less than 5k miles on them should hopefully help me make back more than half the cost.

The problem with 16 for me is that they are LT/E instead of SL/P.

Wheels and tires shipped and should be here Wednesday, but I might order my suspension before putting them on.

I also need to find a way to get a high quality CMC done around here.

Damn, that came out really nice! I ordered the plates from BAMF. I'll probably just go around getting quotes from body shops.

I agree but unfortunately with these specific rims the smallest I could get is 17’’ :frusty:

I paid $250 for 3rd gen and He provided the plates, flatten the pinch weld and did minor trimming of the fender flares. He kept everything looking very clean for a stock look. Soo figure should be $20 less If you provide the plates.

Thanks, it's always good to go in with a price point in mind. Hopefully things aren't more expensive in Alabama...

Is the same amount of trimming required regardless of lift?

When offroading, if you fully compress the suspension while turning, you're bringing it up even higher than no lift and it has to clear.

Is that right or is there some multiple articulation effect I'm missing?

While I have a 2nd gen, I'm fairly certain I could have gotten away without doing the CMC if I would have had an alignment shop put my caster as far forward as possible. With my wheels sitting very far back I only rubbed the cab mount when turning in reverse (considerably), but that was the only time.

I personally think Method NV's are still my favorite wheel. Ray 10's do look awesome on 3rd gens though... I don't think you can go wrong with either.
