I am also a bit worried with people saying re-flashing makes a big difference, so I just figured I'd have to re-flash on a semi regular basis, but I was not aware that Mat advises against this.... Did he say why, or does anyone know why that would be a bad idea?

    In progress.... And getting better!
I could get approximately 3.8 gallons for $20! :poking:

When you reflash you reset all your fuel trims. Your ecu has to make all of its adjustments again and it takes time for the ecu to make them. I find it very odd that people are saying the learning has come back when @OVTune has said the learning has been eliminated. Possibly bad gas?

I did not reflash but had the same issue - I removed the negative lead to the battery - afterwards it was fine and using the same tank of gas. I doubt in my case it was the gas. Many posts in the last few weeks about this and many tagging @OVTune ???? no insight from Mat yet.

Does switching to a different octane tune do the same as reflashing? Seems like a decent number of people are having the same issues, and noticing an "immediate" change after reflashing, and I am guessing they're running the same tank of gas in the process. I had been assuming that the "quality" (maybe characteristics would be a better word) was changing on people over time due to folks here saying the tune takes time to 'settle in'. I have also read on here that learning is reduced, while others say eliminated completely. Curious which it is...

Everyone I've heard says it's an immediate change for the better.
    Bad gas wouldn't explain that.
I haven't done it. But I am noticing it's not as smooth as it was.

It sounded like Matt did not know until he got the last set of factory tables that there where tables that block or ignored changes he made to other tables.

I think 4R came out before Matt made this descovery.

You never had 04B04 or 1.04R on your auto, did you? I bet it would have been noticeably better.

Entirely possible, but it does seem on the surface that some people are independently noticing a difference after re-flashing. Personally I don't think I'll mind having to re-flash every few months if it keeps the truck driving well, and doesn't do any damage to the damn overpriced thing.

It would if it’s just recalibrating faster due to parameters being reset.

I unplugged the battery yesterday to reset the ECU. There is a change.

Correct. I had the first auto TSB way back when.

I’d be curious to see the difference now, but i have zero intentions of going back to an auto after the miles I’ve logged on both.

DON’T GO BACK!!! MT ftw! lol

I think that the reset is going to have a more noticeable affect on the AT trucks. It’s not significant, but noticeable.

You're going to notice a change between what your truck has adjusted over time vs a clean slate based off a brand new flash/reset battery. Do not mistake this as the 'learning' of shift tables and throttle response curves that Mat has eliminated. All fuel injected OBD2 cars make adjustments based on their connected sensors' feedback over time.

I wouldn't call this the Placebo effect - it's definitely something provable. However, I will say it sounds like people like the feeling of the immediate changes they feel when they reflash/reset - whether those changes end up being better or worse for the vehicle or driving scenarios over time.

You'll be happy with the throttle control
