What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I replaced it with a hex head one from another port last time so it wasn't an allen anymore. But it's hard to find one that fits right

 

yeah it sucked big time, I probably should have done a better job of cleaning it out first and getting a better angle on it. It's a bit tricky to get a wrench on there straight with how close it is to the diff mounts, I think it popped out a little bit and when I started tapping it with a mallet it rounded it out.

 

This is key to ensuring your best bet at getting that plug out

 

Anyone happen to know the thread-pitch?

 

Always hit the front diff drain plug straight on with a ball peen a few times before trying to remove it. It'll make it come off super easy.

 

Yeah stock they are. The Bilstein 5100s I used have as well as the DR resis I'm currently running are longer on the passenger side.

Called Icon this morning to confirm as many vendors don't list the passenger side shock anymore. The ones that do don't have them in stock so I assume they aren't aware. Icon said they decided having different lengths wasn't necessary & it's easier for them to keep on hand.

Only other shocks I have really heard that are the same length are OMEs.

So I guess if you've been running the same length on both sides I won't worry then. Maybe with lift it doesn't really matter much? It's like 1.5" difference in length IIRC.

 

For the drain I just use some ugga dugga's from my impact on it's lowest setting. Fill plug is usually the painful process of needing to crush my hand putting support on it straight on and tapping the ratchet arm.

This is the EP35 relay Advance Auto ordered. It not even close to the old one.

What did you do about it? And am I on the wrong part here?

 

That's the right one and you pulled the wrong relay out of your truck from somewhere else. It should be on the backside of your inside fusebox

 

That for your blinkers?

If so you pulled the wrong relay. The blinker one(atleast in my truck) looks nothing like that

 

How much to taking the fuse panel off?

I see one 10mm bolt

I never actually removed my fuse box to get to it. I just reached up behind there and felt around until I found it.

Which is the fan fuse? In the process of changing the instrument lights we lost power to the a/c fan...any ideas on where I can start troubleshooting?

 

Did you take out the HVAC controls? Cances are you knocked the power for the fan out there

 

Lemme check it. I’ll pull the bezel back off

 

The 10 amp mini fuse for the gauge blew. All is good now.
