I bought a cheap full mechanics tools set from Costco for $80 and I put it in ziploc bags (to save space) and stuffed it under the back seat. Added some metric inverted hex sockets because our trucks have a few of those and some other things.

For trips air compressor, hi lift, jumper cables, few other stuff I cant remember

I built my own kit that I Use regularly to wrench on the truck. It has a tool to turn every nut and bolt on my truck. And everything necessary to tear down and replace any suspension component. I can service just about anything, tires, brakes, etc.

SwissTool. Far better quality than a Leatherman.

One of my favorite wood processing tools
A full arrange of tools, sized on the truck. Enough for a cv axle and universal joint replacement. Some spare gearlube and oil, window cleaner, electrical tape and some ratcheting straps.

I bring all of that plus spare drive shaft, cv axel, UCA bolts and nuts, oil filter, and random lube for the truck. I need to get a bottle jack though thought about buying a Harbor Freight 3ton jack and modifying the wheels to be like the proeagle one but like 1/4 the price

Actually, If I'm out on long camping/wheeling trips, I do bring a set of common wrenches needed for my truck in a small tool bag. But that's only since the SAS. When I was still IFS, I rarely brought any tools.
I also always have an E tool, camp knife and tomahawk in my truck. air compressor and tire filling tools behind back seats. And also some recovery gear. Also have a collapsible fishing pole and tackle box.

A good ratchet and socket set is probably the most important thing you could bring. That is always top of my list. I make sure to bring the breaker bar too. Always make sure you have the right size socket to get your wheels off or you'll be up shit creek even for the most basic fixes. I typically also keep the right size socket for replacing a front axle in the truck. I don't use it for anything else so it just lives in the rear seat bin. It's also great to have a pry bar with you too in case something gets bent and you need to right it. It's also great for popping out the front axle from the diff. Recently, I had a friend pop a radiator hose off the bottom of his radiator and a 3 gallon jug of water came in handy since we had to refill him. It's also great for washing hands at the camp site. Last but certainly not least, I always keep a large blue tarp folded up behind the rear seats. It's handy if you have to work on or under the truck and the ground is wet, dirty, full of fire ants, or potentially scorching hot in the summer. Consider that after you fix the truck you'll have to get back in it and having to clean your seats is probably last on your list. It's also come in handy multiple times when I've had stuff in the bed of the truck and it starts to rain.

A bfh is handy, on top of the normal tool kit.
