I am anxiously looking for a truck. This will be my second vehicle (sold my 98bmw) and first truck. I only want a 4x4 taco. I cannot afford a 2nd gen taco, but I can afford a 1st gen.

Anyways, there is a 2000 white TRD here in town (wilmington nc) with 113k, one owner. The dealer is asking 11,900. I feel that is high. KKB says 9100ish. It is in very good condition.

My dream is a 2004 white trd with less than 75k. (I like the grill better than the 2000)

    I can afford 15,000ish.

Should I go for the 2000? Or wait until something else pops up.

BTW this will be a daily driver... plus a beach, mud, and woods truck oh and dog.

Any advise will be happily welcomed.

Price is way high. That truck is worth 8k.

is this a private seller or a dealership? I bought my 04 tacoma a few years ago... Bought it from a dealership. They charged me way to much for the tacoma. I paid about 16k for my 04 tacoma and it had 120k miles on it. A 04 tacoma that has 4WD and is a 3.4L with less than 75k miles is going to cost you about 20k dollars. Maybe more actually! It depends who you buy from, try to buy from a private seller is possible.

$20K is a bit steep. More like $15,000 for a clean 1st gen 4x4. If I could get 20 for mine I would have sold it by now.

Ok sorry, That truck would be worth around 8k around here, but maybe not in your area. If its super clean and has maintenance records and everything, offer 10k and see what happens.

The '00 in the picture is at a nice, but small dealership.

Anyone have a reason the 01-04 are better other than style?

Actually, pre '01 is better in my opinion because you can get them with manual hubs. (that white one does not have manual hubs). Other than that, you can get a double cab in 01-04.

They are the same excpt the frontend. I think their be something small that they changed in the front seat to but i might be wrong on that one.

The ones where you have to get out and lock manually to go into 4x4. They are awesome because you can essentially have a 2wd Low mode if you leave the hubs unlocked which can be very useful.

I got my '03 for ~$15k with 27,000 miles on it.
That white Tacoma is way too expensive. I'd wait until you found a good deal. It'll come along. I waited for about 2 months until I found mine.
