Most tube and plate bumpers you see on "prerunners" are all one piece (as opposed to a separate skid plate and bumper), so when people cut that out, the plate from the front of the bumper usually runs way beyond that towards the transmission.

Are people making their own skids out of 3/16” steel or are you referring to using aluminum plate?

Seems a bit difficult to work with 3/16” steel.

Mine are 3/16" steel. I cut the cross member and welded back in a piece of 2" square to make my skid supports off of. Pics in build thread somewhere

Mine is 1/4" with tube support and bent to shit. Glad I made it beefy. It can support the whole truck on rocks if need be. But like others, I suggest using square tube. Shape would hold better then my bent round tube. Bent tube likes to bend back out a tad and making lining up bolt holes a bitch.

Thanks guys. I actually used them to set up my bumps. But then kinda wondered why they’re even there at that point.

Can’t remove them without unscrewing the rod end anyway, the rubber is bonded to a large metal washer.

@Anthony250 took rough measurements to see about making shock hoops today. A ton less stressful working with a knowledgeable guy when it comes to stuff beyond what I've done before - way past it really. Fall back plan is to buy solo's hoops but if we can make some I'll save a bunch of money
    :spending:

Right now the brake booster interfering with the bypasses seems to be the biggest problem that will have to be worked around...

Got enough of the truck squared away and figured what the hell....went for a shakedown run along a local riverbottom....need to take out some of the valving in it(too stiff) but man its night and day better over leaf springs!

Anthony mentioned we could swap out the bypass rod ends for welded ones - the bypasses are brand new and there's a chance I could get them swapped out for free from King... we'll see, thanks for the pic brother - did he make sheet metal towers for the shocks and coilovers - I'm pretty sure that's what it looks like.
