You had a little weather machine there, had being the dominate word. Count the chirps in 15 seconds time and add 40, that will give you the temperature in the room, if inside.

As long as you didn't do this...

I belive this, too. I had a spider problem, and it seemed everythime I killed 1 spider, more would show up, but closer to my house. It was to the point that they were living/setting up base above my front door. CLEARLY prepparing for an airial attack. I ran out of bug spray and was left only to defend myself with a bottle of 3m Super 90 spray adheasive. A spider was on a recon near my store room, so I sprayed him with the 3m Super 90, permanently sticking him where he stood. TO THIS DAY, he is stuck to my wall in the same place and well preserved. ALSO, the spiders have since dissapered. ALL OF THEM. So, I wonder sometimes if they 1) couldnt bear the sight of one of their comrades stuck to a wall or 2) It was their commander and since they could no longer receive orders, they retreated.

Yeah take that eight legged zombies!

Ants do send out warning signals, constantly communicating with each other, kill one, tons more show up or find a crumb tons more show up.... clever little buggers.

I don't mind bugs outside but in my house they die unless they pay rent. No freebies.

That is my newest battle. ANTS! In fact, after I posted my spider saga, a little basturd bit me in the ankle. Ants are a different adversary. I have Super 90'ed them at their hole, but they take their glued buddies and place them around their hole to fortify their mound. I used some brake fluid and it seemed to work, but they just relocated their hole. Recently, I have been useing Wasp and Hornet spray. In my testing it has an affective range of 15 feet, thought the bottle claims 25. HOWEVER, it gives me the freedom to sit on my patio, have a Cigar, post on this site, and do some "Long range" attacks to keep them busy. Other means I have tried inclued Spray paint (had no affect, just made them silver), PB Blaster (very affective, but it killed my tree that was near their hole, and the ants moved), Mobil1 5w-30 (few deaths, but another relocation). Last wedness day, I used 7 KFC honey packets with the contents dumped outside of their hole to lure them out. 30 min. later, they were swarming the honey "sauce" so I rained down wasp/hornet killer, and did VERY well. Despite the mas killings, there are plenty left in the hole, as they continue to thrive. Im down to 1 bottle of wasp/hornet killer, so My Wife is going to pick up some more today, BUT, I have 10 more KFC honey sauce packets, so Im thinking of running a small honey trail to a guy a few houses down and leaveing a BIG pile-O-honey near HIS house. Maybe the ants will get tired from the long journey to the honey and move close to him.......

Take some chalk (kids sidewalk stuff) or chalk dust and make a line or circle in the path of the ants. They will not cross it. Something to do with it sticking to there feet (do the have feet?) they lose their grip(?).

Ever see ants on a homicide victim after the outline? (that was just a goof question)

It was discussed once and others spoke up about how it worked.

Oh my, I see a CaddyShack type assault in the back yard. Biting off the heads of C4 molded ants, Just run a ring of chalkline chalk around the mound and report back to us. Try not to blow up the neighborhood!

Try mixing the piles. Get a scoop from one pile and put it in another then remove some from that pile and bring it to the next. They will kill each other, seems there are hardly any survivors they must kill the queen then they all just die or wander lost forever. An ant with out a queen is useless and will be killed by other ants. You can also use Diatomateious Earth it is safe for humans and when the ants pass on it their legs fall off. Looking at it under a microscope reveals that it looks similar to fiberglass.

I head that also. It doesnt work. I tried it. These ants dont care if their feet are dirty........

This is a good idea. I may try this when I get tired of screwing with them. I think the fire Idea is more entertaining to me right now. And I have a few other things I want to try.
FWIW, I just measured the distance in which they have been relocating their holes after I make them uninhabitable. They have moved 40 feet! I have dead patches of grass in front of my house marking the location of their old holes. I think Im going to see if I can make my dog pee on them this morning.......

Yeah the techniques I have mentioned aren't that entertaining, but they leave just the dirt. The DE I put near my pillars to my house so they can't get in, hard to walk with no legs.

They fall off the pillars and roll around. lol funny but gets old quick. When I was a kid I used to melt my army men with a magnifying glass and drip the melted plastic onto the ants and watch and listen to them pop.
