^This is why I’m thinking of doing it. If I decide I still need to go FI afterward, I’ve lost nothing, and I get some extra oomph in the interrim. Win-win.

That kind of says it all.
Not even close to same motors. Hopefully soon someone gets smart and puts together a pro charger that takes a day to drop in and get 50percrnt hp increase for about 5k.

Go for it, Einstein. You should start a new thread about it, too. Link back here to let us know how it turns out.

I'll take his word for it considering he has both vehicles, done his research and has invested his own time and money developing the TT package for the Tacoma 3.5l. Also, as to date he is the sole source for cracking Toyota/Lexus programing, I wouldn't hold my breath on anyone getting a pro charger to market anytime soon.

Sounds just like magnuson. Tuning is kind of important…and kind of difficult…

You must of had a bad experience with a poorly engineered turbo kit. Why is a centrifugal so superior to a turbo besides ease of install? I’ve elected to use a centrifugal over a turbo before but that was on a V8 in a lighter vehicle where I wasn’t concerned about adding low rpm torque. Plus, the centrifugal allowed me to keep AC whereas the turbo would not. In the Tacoma I wouldn’t bother spending $5k unless I was seeing significant low rpm improvements.

Magnuson has a supercharger on the shelf for these trucks too, they just can’t tune them since they haven’t cracked into the coding like mat has

Matt could tune for them but ensure it makes less power than factory, the ultimate troll move

Idk why everyone is obsessed with magnum on. Few years ago when I was into the wrangler game. Magnuson released there blower for the 3.6. It was literally a joke in hp gains. And 3 people near me who bought it for the “low end torque”. Sold it for a turbo kit or a centrifugal kit.

I messaged them in April and again in August and they said that their S/C for the 3.5L is in the works. Now, whether or not they're faring any better than Magnusson is up for debate. FWIW, they already released a sc for the 2.7L 4banger back around christmas time, so it stands to reason that they're doing better overall than Magnusson, perhaps? Idk. Either way, OVT is currently the frontrunner for FI for our trucks

Yeah that's the key, guy obviously knows Toyota code but maybe needs to get back to what makes sense.
Trucks never going to be a race car and low end torque from a small supercharger would be perfect. Charger will fall on its face after awhile but who's building 500whp tacomas. Not many
To many issues with turbos far as I'm concerned. Heat, space, ground clearance, and forget about carb cert. Had twins on 350 and vette. 600 whp in 350 guess if you want to be the guy with twins on your tacoma go for it I'll stick to making sense.

Better low end torque out of a charger usually. These turbos are small so should spool fast but will still be lag I'm sure

Still think FI would be great for this truck in the right place but can’t help think it would be more fun/cheaper to just slap a turbo in my mother’s 2008 Mx-5 it would time perfectly with my early onset Baldness = mid life crisis

Ok, let’s say that a Procharger makes 7 psi and a (properly sized) turbo makes 7 psi. You can see 7psi from 2500-6000 rpm with a turbo, it doesn’t require a lot of exhaust flow to drive the turbine. With the centrifugal supercharger, they build boost in a linear way as they need engine rpm to drive a belt. At 2500 rpm with a centrifugal supercharger you’re probably not going to have more than 1-2psi. Peak boost is never achieved with a centrifugal until peak rpm.

I don’t think your belt driven 2 psi is going to have more power than an exhaust driven 7 psi. Especially considering that turbos are known to be more efficient at creating that boost to begin with.

Here’s a dyno of a BMW comparing a centrifugal blower and a turbo on the same motor:

    A082861D-23C6-4C0A-8284-F1AFD6C703F5.jpg

A centrifugal would be a simple install though
