Rattle in left front wheel

I have a very noticeable rattle coming from the left front wheel everytime I hit a bump or hole in the road. The rattle quits as soon as I put on the brakes. I have taken my 2009 Tacoma( 20,000 miles on it) to 2 different Toyota dealerships including the one that I bought the truck from (that experience will be another post).

So far, this is a list of things that both dealerships have done to correct the problem:

1) Replaced both link assemblies on the front stabilizer bars.
2) Repaced caliper on right front wheel
3) Replaced front brake pads on both front wheels
4) Replaced rotor on right front wheel

None of these corrective measures have eliminated the rattle. Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so, what was the solution? If it doesn't get corrected, I am either filing with the state "lemon law" officials or trading this "rattle" trap off for a Ford F-150. I hate to do that because I really like my Tacoma, but I am not going to put up with that rattle!

 

I was going to suggest you try bending the pad mounting clips, but if they already replaced the front pads I guess that probably won't help.

Are you able to jack up the left front and hit the side wall with your palm or a rubber mallet to try to see where the rattle is coming from exactly? Maybe try something similar with the wheel off as well.

You would think one of the dealerships would have done something like this, but apparently they have been unsuccessful. Then again, it's not their truck and maybe they are some of the ones that don't give a crap.

 

if you kick the wheel and it makes the noise. it could be a metal piece that goes over the screw for you axle(4wd). you need to put a pin to keep it from hitting the hub cover. well that's what I did for my truck when it was making a noise. just really depends on where the noise is coming from.

 

Keep taking it to the same dealership util its solved.

This is that damn rattle/clinking sound I have. It doesn't happen if you're on the brakes. Now I have noticed as soon as I hit the brakes, they make a "clink" sound. I have not been able to find an answer either It sounds like its coming from my left front wheel area.

 

It may be the steering shaft. Go up in the left side wheel well and move the steering shaft around, it will make a distinct rattle type noise. Is this the noise you are hearing?
