best semi auto shotgun

what is a fair priced semi auto shotgun.....

Probably now what you're looking for but there's always the Saiga 12. You can pick them up for $500 + shipping + FFL charge from Classic Arms. It's a magazine fed 12 gauge shotty on an AK platform. And if you're crafty and like projects you can do the conversion which moves the trigger forward where it originally was before it came out of Russia.

I absolutely love these things. I have 2 in the sporter configuration but plan on converting them both once my woman gets out here and we get a place. I need a good workspace.

 

Can't go wrong with a Remington 1187.

Yeah Yeah...you get what you pay for w/ most firearms.

 

I'd go with a Remington 11-87 over a Benelli. Benelli's like to not work in cold climates. The only thing that will go wrong with an 11-87 is a rubber gasket that cost .50cents and takes 30 seconds to replace. Granted I hunt pheasants in some really crappy weather! LOL

 

This is correct. The 11-87 wont totally break the bank either like the Benelli will.

I love my Benelli M2 Field. My dad shoots a 11-87 and he is considering switching to a Benelli M2 soon.

As stated, Benelli makes a good semi-auto, very reliable and they don't foul up much. I own a 11-87 and like it, softer shooting that a Benelli but it does require cleaning more often for reliability. Beretta semi-auto's are also popular.

You might waynt to check at your local Dick's. I was at mine a few weeks ago and they had some sale prices on a Diamond semi-auto, which is basically a Franchi made and sold for them that uses a Benelli gas action. From what I recalled, they were priced right ($799) which is way cheaper than a comparable Benelli.

 

Another reason I prefer the Rem over the Ben is Benelli doesn't make anything like this.

 

Hey Onpoint, I recognize that 11-87 Upland Special. Nice gun for bird hunting. I once had one in 20ga on small frame, great for grouse hunting where I go in PA and Michigan. I now use a Fabarm Ultra Light 12ga with 23" barrels and a 20ga Ithaca 280E mostly,except for when pheasant hunting, then I stick with either the Fabarm or go with my 11-87 12ga like you.

 

It's hard to beat me to the draw when I'm hunting with my Upland Special. It is by far my favorite for upland bird hunting.

 

No doubt, the Benelli M4 all the way.
