Everytime someone posts in this thread and I see the build I think about those skids and rear bumper. Keep up the awesome prototypes and get to producing them! I want the skids bad.

Finally got caught up in this thread.

Looking at all those off-road pics and I am sitting here babying the hell out of my 2018.

    Nice stuff Ben!

    Sorry guys!
I apologize for being such a tease :)
I do still have all intentions to bring this stuff to market. I just need to get all my stuff together on my end before as the Tacomas are a huge market! I am currently only a 3 man shop that already has a 8-12 week lead time so adding products at this point would likely only frustrate. After seeing how many racks are selling without really pushing them or advertising has definitely made me think about how will I keep up once the other products are released.
I am currently using a local shop to manufacture all the racks and I'm doing the bumpers in house, my goal in the next six months is to be doing everything in house. I do want to expand but want to do it smartly without a ton of debt.
I apologize for all the threads of possible new products and not coming through yet but know I am working on get everything in place on my end for smooth production.
    Thanks!

    Hi Ben,

Was wondering, for the dual battery setup, is the sheet metal able to handle all the added weight?
Concerned about things breaking down much faster with dual batteries there.

Planning on doing the same but am having a little bit of hesitation there.

Been swamped in the shop but did make a trip up to just-differentials for some nitro 5.29 gears and front air locker!
I'm so much happier with the truck. Got some power back and gained about 4-5 mpg! No more gear hunting. IMG_1466.jpgIMG_1467.jpg

I have heard good things about the 5.29s for us 3rd gens. If I ever step up tire size I will have to look into them more, I am only running a 265/75R16 right now. Truck is looking good, still hoping I can get those skids....:spending:

I recently started following your instagram as well, those welds are insane and way to show the doubters.

    Yes, very pleased!
Unfortunately aluminum is still going up!
Looking at $600 a sheet now from $288 when I made the prototype. Hopefully it settles down soon.
Yeah, it's funny how many welders make comments like that, they think cause they can't do it no one can.
And some weld pics for fun ;)IMG_1525.jpgIMG_1563.jpgIMG_0895.jpgIMG_0851.jpg

Have you considered making steel or do you prefer to stick with Aluminum and wait for pricing to correct itself? I would prefer aluminum for my build personally but with the current pricing it is obviously cost prohibitive. Which I see you do a lot of LC/LX/GX stuff so I am sure that keeps you busy in the meantime. I will not be buying skids until your are available, I am sold on the design and the way you test the gear.

    Not much stock left.
@Dissent86, did you move from the stock gears directly to the 5.29’s, or did you make a pit stop in between with the 4.88’s? I don’t recall if you had the 488’s. I’m interested in your comparison, if you did. I have the 488’s with 34” tires. I’m getting about 16 mpg. It runs fine, but wondering if 529’s would be better.

Those welds are sick AF. As usual.

    Went from stock to these.
With 35s it runs about 2k rpm at 85mph.
