Ugh there is an 02 tundra for sale near me at a reasonable price.. I am so tempted to sell this truck and buy it. If OVtune doesn't help my girlfriend is all for it.

I had an ‘02 TRDOR AC Tundra with the 4.7. LOVED that truck. If I hadn’t totaled it, I’d still have it!

I had an 02 ac 2wd... I LOVED IT myself. Literally the perfect truck for my needs(other than now needing 4wd).
I miss it still lol only drawback is that timing belt.

I would go with a 2005/2006 tundra if I was you.

All Toyota vehicles with the 4.7 Engine got a decent torque and hp boost plus the thndra got a new transmission and frame upgrade on those years.

I have been considering the same with a well taken care off older 4x4 V8 Tundra or 4runner lol

    Good morning everyone.
    - lots of emails to catch up today.
    - more 1.05 testing to do.

more information about everyones handheld orders I will have soon. We expect to have them all out by the end of the month.
New customer orders will come first before exchanges.
We will try to make this as painless as possible

    thanks

    Looking forward to tes
Really any year tundra would make me happier than I currently am. I just had a 2002 so I remember how it used to run. Never drove a newer one except the 5.7. We will see if the tune fixes it

Hey All. Tried to digest what I can of this thread. I'm about ready to trade in my 17 due to the erratic shifting anytime I hit a hill (even with SSP). This weekend was almost the last straw.

Anyways, I'm now looking toward OVTune 1.05 and had a quick question for purchase options. Could someone explain the difference of the upcoming 1.05 Handheld Tuner Option versus the Generic Custom Tune Option? The handheld tuner presumably replaces the need for the laptop, but will provide less custom tune options? This would be the first time flashing for me.

    Thanks.

In case you missed it, Mat has recently updated the first page of this thread with a bunch of new info pertaining to the handheld.

I believe that will answer your questions :)

so i just took my buddies 2015 tacoma to the post office for a reminder of my last truck. OMG i was in heaven driving through the city. fluid shifting, downshift was immediate and kept the rpm's right in the perfect spot no matter what speed. i really hope toyota gets rid of this 3.5 soon and puts in a real truck motor with torque, then they can keep the rpm's low like they try to do with a motor that fits in your hand. Then he drove mine with 1.04r on it and he jumped out and said you can keep that piece of garbage, i had to agree with him. His is sooo much nicer to drive.

Thanks! Definitely understanding it a bit more now. In essence, Handheld = Less Custom Tune with price being equal at $770 between custom and handheld versions. The question is, how much would one be missing out on if using the handheld tuner vs. the custom tune?

As I understand it, you could still get custom tunes with the hand held, I think you just need to get the logger accessory from OVTune, then send in your data from that. Others on here know much more than I do about this though
