Factory Heated Seats Failure

Dealership wants me to order the whole harness along with the heating element and seat heater ecu. Looking at over $300+ cdn.

I’m on it. Just going through the motions and steps. Keeping a detailed log of names and contacts as well to document it.

 

My taco dose not have heated seats but I, like I am sure many others are watching this saga unfold with grate interest. Is there anyway they might pay for/or give you the parts if you pay the labor at the dealer ?

 

When I went through this whole process and just now recently got my truck back, they covered me 100%. They called it a courtesy offering or something like that. Now I’m not saying it’s guaranteed that everybody would be covered but it did work for me. And obviously every case like mine helps move this problem forward to becoming a recall.

 

Called the NHTSA. Because my truck is Canadian I need to call import Canada 202-366-5291and see if my truck was imported. Once I verify wether it’s been imported and if not I need to call transport Canada 1800-333-0510 and report the issue there.

 

What's the 1st number on your vin?

 

I am pretty sure all Canadian Tacoma's begin with '5'

 

My '17 TRD Pro is a TX made USA-bought truck and my VIN begins with 5.....

 

Correct, all Pro's and all Manuals also are Texas made, almost positive all the Canadian ones are too.

 

5 also a manual and confirmed Canadian via import Canada. Ran outta time today to give Transport Canada a call.*update* Transport Canada says they only deal with vehicles in Canada and to call NTHSA and report my issues there.*update* Have an appointment at the dealership to diagnose on 10/18.

 

My heater failed too and I found this thread. Slid my seat forward to look at the amplifier and sure enough, it's discolored like it's melted in there. Just filled out the email form to TMC notifying them of the failure and my knowledge of others having the same problem. Will follow up when I hear back.

 

I'm glad to see that someone else is also following though with this, because it seams like a lot have complained but thats as far as they have taken it. keep us posted on your results.

 

I had to cancel my appointment. We switched from 4 10s to 5 8s at work. I’ll get it in as soon as the weather turns and work slows down.

 

Is this a common occurrence?

 

Had my truck diagnosed today. There's a TSB (technical service bulletin) T-SB-0130-18 regarding this issue. I've attached a PDF of the paperwork that I was provided. It describes who's eligible for warranty repair, affected Vin#'s and revised P/N's. Will follow up to say if they cover the damage or not. At 42k, I'm outside of the warranty.

 

Are you going to end up taking both of them out and cleaning them once a year then for the rest of my life Of the truck? Doesn’t sound sensible. We need to force them to fix the problem, not ours Band-Aid it. Especially after spending $40,000 on a vehicle

 

I heard back from the dealership yesterday. In my case Toyota will cover the cost of the parts and repair and I will pay for the diagnostic. Not gonna argue with em over it.

 

Here's the diagnostic hand them the burnt thing tell them look u fix or I make sure that the ntsb and other regulatory agencies are up your ass lik a blonde's tampon.
