Hey guys, I have a 2012 prerunner and every time I hit a bump or a pothole in the road going 25-40mph I hear a high pitched chirping sound coming from the rear of my truck. I have a leaking shock tube on my rear drivers side and I am wondering if that could be the cause of this. It is a chirping/whistling sound, it does not squeak or sound like metal on metal. Has anyone experienced this before?

I spent about two hours yesterday trying to pinpoint a squeak similar to what you're describing, @phife94. I think I narrowed it down to the spare tire chain like what @unlewser said, and just used some jumbo zip ties to secure the chain to the spare wheel. I can always use my knife to cut the zip tie in case I need to access my spare. So far, the chirp/squeak hasn't returned.

Thanks guys. Tightened up the spare and did not notice any more noise driving around today. Appreciate the help!

Side note, what are ya'lls experiences with bilstein 4600 rear shocks? Found a new set for around $100 and am thinking of running them on my 2012 prerunner (in reference to the leaking rear OEM shock)

I know the OP fixed his problem but, My ford F150 the tail gate latches squeak, I have to hit them with grease to stop the squeaking.

Squeaky leaf springs can do that too. I hit mine with a shot of white lithium grease about once a year and it stops it.

Revival from the dead, I know, but my searching found this thread and helped fix this random chirp I had going over the tiniest bumps while moving. It was my spare tire. Saved me a bunch of time.

Two other squeaks I resolved this year were from my UCA bushing (greased it) and from my hood latch (fluid filmed it). I had one rattle which turned out to be my bed bolt being loose (tightened it). I'm glad I catch and address these things when I notice them. My truck would be noisy otherwise.
